ITV Emmerdale tonight as fans say same thing as fate ‘sealed’ in ‘too much’ episode

Jay fears the worst tonight when he thinks bad boss Jade has carried through with her threats

In tonight’s episode of ITV Emmerdale, Billy Fletcher and Ross Barton go head-to-head in a public heated bust up but fans say it was all “too much” to take.

Ross Barton, portrayed by Mike Parr, returned to the show last month after six years away and has been thrust straight into a major storyline whereby his character faced Billy Fletcher in an illegal fight for cash.

Ross was briefly knocked out by Billy and now bad boss Jade backs Billy into a corner as she tells him she wants him to face Ross again. Despite his best efforts to tell her he doesn’t want to she is not for backing down. Jade turns up at Holdgate and tricks Dawn into having a drink with her as a subtle yet serious threat to Billy that she will involve his family if he doesn’t play ball.

Billy was livid when he returned home to find the two of them together but Jade makes it clear he hasn’t got a choice and next time it will be his kids. And in tonight’s episode Billy thinks she has followed through on her threat when he returns home to find Dawn frantically looking for Clemmie and Lucas.

Dawn tells him they are missing and he immediately presumed Jade is responsible much to Dawn’s confusion. She doesn’t understand as to why Jade would be involved with their missing kids, but Billy is reluctant to tell her what is really going on.

Jay Kontzle who plays Billy appeared on This Morning earlier today to discuss the upcoming fight scene. He said: “Billy’s not a bad guy at all there are reasons for his actions, he’s a family guy at heart. The fight turns into a little bit of a mess, I don’t know how much I’m supposed to be telling you here.”

Asked about the training involved for the fight scenes Jay adds: “Growing up I did a bit of martial arts briefly so I had a bit of understand what I should be doing. Working opposite Mike was incredible because he has a fighting background as well, we felt really comfortable doing it and the whole thing was done really professionally taking into account the health and safety aspects.

Emmerdale as fans say same thing as fate ‘sealed’ in ‘hate violence’ episode

“We wanted to make it as true as possible, with it being around 7-8pm we could only show so much so it was trying to make it look at authentic as possible. I really like drama and naturalism and the action kind of scenes, I was really privileged to get this storyline.”

And it seems the scene is a little too realistic for some with some viewers saying the scenes are a bit too brutal. Fans of the soap have taken to X to share their feelings.

One user @princessjoy1 penned: “You know nearly every story line has to show some kind of conflict and threats to families. Don’t you think we have enough of it in the world today so wrong this storyline with Ross and his fighting against Billy. Hate violence and people threatening for their own ends.”

Whilst @NoSecretReally said: “Mack is no match for Ross” and @Secretmidget2 wrote: “I can’t get over this fake gangster in Emmerdale. With her female security guard who’s super hard. Pathetic storyline.” And @LiamFolkey penned: “So Emmerdale have ripped off a side plot of Snatch then. Original.”
