Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt is set to say her goodbyes to the soap soon – now fans have ‘worked out’ how she leaves – and it’s not looking good
Coronation Street fans have ‘rumbled’ how Bethany Platt is leaving the soap. The character, played by Lucy Fallon, is a firm favourite on the ITV soap. And over the years, she’s been involved in several big storylines – from child grooming to affairs.
It’s fair to say that Bethany’s not had it easy. Especially in the soap at the moment, as in September, she was left with a perforated bowel and life-threatening sepsis after she flew to Turkey to undergo botched liposuction.
She was given an opportunity she couldn’t refuse, which ended in disaster as doctors were forced to operate. Her family was left panicking about hospital bills after it was made clear that her medical insurance wouldn’t cover the costs.

As a result, Bethany’s grandmother Gail Platt (Helen Worth) ended up taking out a briefing loan so she could sell her house. However, because of the surgery and sepsis, Bethany was fitted with a stoma bag – and has it for life.
What’s more, in August, it was confirmed that actress Lucy would be taking a break from Corrie following the news of her pregnancy. Lucy is expecting her second child with her boyfriend Ryan Ledson, after welcoming son Sonny Jude last year.

Now, fans have ‘worked out’ how Bethany is leaving – and it’s heartbreaking. Sharing their thoughts on a Corrie Facebook fan page, viewers reckon she could have “some sort of breakdown” and go with Gail, as Helen Worth is also confirmed to be leaving the soap after 50 years.
One person mused: “Wonder how Bethany will be written out for Lucy’s mat leave ?!”Other fans raced to the comments section to share their theories. A second said: “I think she will end up going away with Gail for an extended holiday.”

A third penned: “She will have some sort of breakdown about the stoma and leave will Gail.”Echoing their thoughts, a fourth wrote: “I think the Stoma storyline has been really well handled. I suspect she will go with Gail and Jessie to “find herself.”
Following the news of Lucy’s pregnancy, fans were keen to find out if she would be returning to the soap after having the baby. Sharing a mirror selfie on set to her Instagram, Lucy wrote: “Lots of Corrie related q’s – I won’t be away for too long and I am returning after I pop the baby out.
