Coronation Street fans will soon know the identity of Joel Deering’s killer. Weatherfield’s biggest-ever whodunnit has been underway for weeks after the solicitor’s body was found.
Joel, played by Calum Lill, first went missing at the end of September. The news was revealed when he failed to show his face in court as he was seemingly set to face his comeuppance for his twisted crimes, which included grooming Lauren Bolton.
A warrant was issued for Joel’s arrest but, after transferring money to Lauren, how the mother of his son Frankie and his ex-wife Emily, and leaving an emotional voicemail for his former fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey, Joel’s car was found abandoned.
It was believed Joel may have taken his own life after he was charged with buying the drugs that forced Lauren’s early labour of their son, Frankie, with the intention of forcing her to miscarry.
But as the police investigation continued to try and piece together Joel’s final moments, the cast quickly turned into solving Joel’s murder after his body was found floating down a river before it was confirmed he’d been killed with a heavy weapon before entering the water.
So far, Corrie viewers have seen scorned ex-Dee-Dee, her dad Ed and her uncle Ronnie put in the frame, as has DS Lisa Swain, whose daughter Betsy was wrapped up with Joel and discovered he’d threatened to kill the teen, Mason Radcliffe and Carla Connor.
The case’s leading investigator Kit Green has also been teased as being involved in Joel’s demise. But the truth will finally be out next week, Corrie spoilers have revealed.
After already confessing her guilt to her dad, unable to live with it, Dee-Dee heads to the station, telling Kit that the anonymous phone call he received was from her after she hit Joel with a crowbar. As she claims it was self-defence and Joel was alive when she left him, Kit’s met with another shock piece of evidence, will Dee-dee be arrested or is someone else in the frame?
Later, as the investigation into Joel’s murder continues. Lisa tells Carla that somebody planted her issued CS spray with the murder weapon, she thinks she’s being set up and most likely by the murderer themselves. As she retraces her steps, trying to figure out who could have lifted the spray, will it lead her to the killer or is Lisa trying to cover her own tracks?
Kit quickly calls on his next suspect before at the end of the week, an exciting episode will feature a series of flashbacks from the night of Joel’s murder are interspersed with Kit’s police interviews and viewers finally get the view from the bridge and discover who delivered the final blow that really killed Joel.
