Emmerdale fans are certain Ross Barton is set to strike up an affair following his return – but it’s not with Charity or Dawn

Emmerdale Ross Barton could be set to strike up a romance with a shock villager, according to fans.

The soap bad boy (Mike Parr) made his comeback to the Dales last month after six years away, with a major plot twist revealing him as Billy Fletcher’s (Jay Kontzle) opponent in a bare-knuckle fight.

And it’s fair to say Ross’ return has ruffled plenty of feathers. His former flame and baby mama Charity (Emma Atkins) was taken aback to see him in the village.

What’s more, during a heart-to-heart with Charity, Ross revealed that his ex Rebecca White (Emily Head) had sadly passed away, leaving her son Seb in the care of an aunt in Bristol.

Charity has since helped Ross bag a job at Moira’s (Natalie J Robb) farm, and persuaded Cain (Jeff Hordley) to let him sleep in his spare room. Meanwhile Charity’s partner Mack (Lawrence Robb) is not too impressed over Ross’ return.

Now, viewers are certain it’s only a matter of time until Ross starts a romance with a villager – and it’s not with who you think.

As well as getting I. Charity’s good books, Ross has also riled up Billy over his wife Dawn (Olivia Bromley). Fans will recall how Dawn and Jay have history, following a last short-lived romance.

However, viewers are certain it’s not Charity or Dawn that Ross could end up with. Sharing their thoughts online, fans reckon it could be Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly).

Ruby’s had a dramatic few dales in the past few months. Not only did her estranged mother die, but she found out husband Caleb (William Ash) lied about visiting her, as well as forcing her to send over £100k before she passed.

Heartbroken and fuming at Caleb’s lies, Ruby has since taken a break away from the village. However, fans have a theory that when she returns, she is set to have an affair with Ross.

On an Emmerdale Reddit thread, one person said: “Who thinks Ross is gonna end up bedding Ruby and her daughter Steph when she comes,” referring to the news of Steph’s upcoming arrival to the village.

Someone else added: “I’d quite like that tbf. I don’t hate Caleb, but I’d love to see how he would react to being cheated on.” A third penned: “Maybe but it would also show Caleb up as his character a bit I don’t know if the show would want that.” A fourth agreed: “Caleb is so full of sh**, I hope queen ruby has an affair with Ross when he comes back.”
