Coronation Street’s Betsy Swain could be in for a surprise as fans have ‘worked out’ who her real father is in a shock twist
Coronation Street fans are certain they have ‘rumbled’ who Betsy Swain’s real dad is – and he’s on the cobbles already. The troublemaker, played by Sydney Martin, rocked up to the cobbles earlier this year, as the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). It was revealed that Lisa’s wife and Betsy’s mum, Becky, had previously died while on duty, leaving Betsy and Lisa’s relationship strained.
And it hasn’t taken Betsy long to cause plenty of drama. She ended up getting involved with sicko solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill), blackmailing him before he threatened her, leaving her shaken and scared.
Fans will recall Joel was responsible for grooming and abusing young girls including Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) who went missing. Lauren eventually returned, and Joel’s true colours were exposed.

Joel has since been murdered with the soap now airing an epic Whodunnit on screens. An array of different residents have become suspects, including Joel’s ex-fiancé Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), Lisa Swain and, following Friday’s bombshell episode (November 1), bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
Kit was seen tampering with evidence linked to the investigation about Joel Deering’s death. However, fans are predicting a huge twist is on the cards as they have ‘figured out’ who Betsy’s real father is.

Sharing their thoughts online, viewers reckon it could be none other than Kit. On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one person said: “Could Kit be Betsy’s dad? And that’s why he’s so against Swain?“
Someone else chimed in: “100%” A third then mused: “It’s possible. If the mother used a sperm donor. And Kit donated sperm. Anything is possible in soap land.” Another agreed: “Good thinking. Possible I suppose.”
Betsy first made her cobbles debut earlier this year. And for actor Sydney, it was her first acting gig in a TV show and she said she was “over the moon” to land the part.

The soap star had auditioned for two smaller roles in Corrie earlier this year and was blown away when she landed the part of Betsy. She told Liverpool Echo: “In this industry, it can be so hard because you deal with so much rejection.
“But, just to get a recall and meet [DS Swain star] Vicky [Myers], I just took it as a good experience I didn’t take it as I was gonna get it. When you’re starting off in this career, any bit of hope is lovely. It’s all about meeting people and networking, that’s what makes it such a beautiful industry.”
