Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle is happily married to Mackenzie Boyd – but it seems the dramatic return of one villager could stir trouble up in their marriage with fans predicting a new romance
Emmerdale fans are convinced a new romance is on the cards for Charity Dingle (played by Emma Atkins) despite her being married to Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb). Charity recently had the shock of her life when Ross Barton (Mike Parr) made an unexpected return to the village.
Charity and Ross have brief history together as they share a son Moses Dingle, but will the pair reunite? Ross staged an almighty comeback to the ITV soap after a six-year absence, with a big twist confirming that he was Billy Fletcher’s (Jay Kontzle) opponent in the bareknuckle fight.
Mack, who was present during the violent showdown, was shocked to see Moses there watching his father fighting Billy and therefore he intervened, removing the child from the warehouse.
A heart-to-heart ensued, with Charity as Ross explained that Rebecca White (Emily Head) had tragically died, with her son Seb being placed in the care of an aunt in Bristol.
Charity was sympathetic as he explained why the sudden death led him on a downward spiral, though she was quick to offer him some parenting advice, urging him to think twice before taking Moses to an illegal fight once more.
Ross was also given a job at Butlers Farm after sharing his financial worries. But it was clear to see Mack was furious at having his wife’s ex-lover back in the village as he tried to draw a wedge between Ross and Charity.
On Friday (November 1), Ross headed to his new job on the farm as Mack shared that they caught wind of a disturbance at the barn. The pair’s conversation seemed frosty before Ross received a phone call.
Charity later arrived to tell Mack that she needed him to take care of Moses for a couple of hours, though he reacted badly after she suggested her son spend some time with his father. Despite being busy with work, Mack agreed to take care of Moses.
Meanwhile, Ross was on edge following his previous run-in with the promoters of his boxing bouts, and during a moment of panic he investigated the barn. After hearing footsteps above him, he fired a warning shot into the roof.
He was stunned to find that his son Moses and Mack was the one lurking above. Mack informed Charity of the situation, expressing his opinion that Ross was a bad father and setting a poor example to Moses. Charity agreed that Ross had some work to do.
But Emmerdale viewers are predicting an affair is on the cards for Charity.
Taking to X to speculate, one person wrote: “The fact Charity did that face and is tempted by Ross I am seated and ready for a kiss to happen, please. She has had her head well and truly turned #emmerdale #charity #ross.”
A second joked: “We all know Charity is thirsting for Ross #Emmerdale”, while a third said: “I can see something happening between Charity and Ross #Emmerdale.”
“I have a feeling Charity & Ross are gonna get close again leaving Mackenzie to seek comfort from Aaron HOPEFULLY”, added one viewer while another exclaimed: “Is it bad I want charity and Ross together.”
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX
