Coronation Street’s ‘nastiest villain’ set for shock return – and it’s bad news for the Platts

The iconic Platts could be set for a surprise on Coronation Street as a former cobbles serial killer is reportedly heading back in a huge twist

Coronation Street is reportedly set to welcome back one of the soap’s nastiest villains. Bad boy Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison) made his debut on the soap way back in 2016, as the estranged son of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding ). And it didn’t take him long to cause trouble on the cobbles.

But in one of the soap’s most horrifying moments in 2016, Clayton stabbed David Platt’s (Jack P Shephard) wife Kylie (Paula Lane) in the middle of the cobbles. David was left cradling his wife as she bled to death in his arms.

David went on to try and kill Clayton but the troublemaker teen was finally arrested and found guilty of murder. Clayton was handed down a sentence between fifteen years to life and his last soap appearance was in 2020 from behind bars.

However, it seems a return is on the cards for Clayton as The Metro reports that actor Callum Harrison has already filmed his scenes, which are set to air next month. The publication also claims his return is not permanent.

Clayton’s return will no doubt rock the Platts, who have had a rough few months on the cobbles recently. Not only was it revealed that David has stole. bad boy Damon’s (Ciaran Griffiths) dirty money, but Gail Platt (Helen Worth) found herself in hospital last week after suffering a heart attack.

What’s more, later this year, Gail will be leaving the cobbles after 50 years. It was confirmed earlier this year that Gail actor Helen Worth had quit the show.

Speaking about her upcoming departure, Helen said: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding.

“I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in week out, and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
