ITV Emmerdale viewers fume as soap ‘forgets’ vital fact after Tina Dingle recast

Emmerdale viewers have claimed the soap has made an ‘error’ amid the recast of Tina Dingle

Emmerdale viewers have criticised the soap for an apparent ‘blunder’ in the wake of Tina Dingle’s recasting.

The character of Tina (Samantha Power), known for her troublemaking ways, made a return to the Dales last week for the funeral of her father Zak (Steve Halliwell), who tragically passed away off-screen and was brought back from Scotland to the Emmerdale village.

Tina was last spotted in the Dales in 1996, portrayed by Jacqueline Pirie. However, following the announcement of Zak’s demise, Tina reappeared last week, causing quite a stir at the funeral.

The Dingles were soon faced with drama as Tina began hurling insults at the family, overshadowing Zak’s farewell. She even audaciously attempted to stake a claim on the family home.

Tina, who was wearing a tag, was eventually escorted away by the police – but she returned to the village in Monday’s episode (October 21). In a surprising turn of events, it was disclosed that she is actually the biological mother of Vinny (Bradley Johnson), who was adopted by Mandy (Lise Riley), reports Leeds Live.

Mandy has raised Vinny for most of his life, after she embarked on a relationship with his father, Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale). Since then, Mandy has regarded Vinny as her son, and he has always seen her as his mother.

However, following this shocking revelation, fans have expressed their dissatisfaction. Outraged, viewers have highlighted how in the past, there have been hints that Vinny and Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) might develop a romantic relationship.

After the bombshell that Belle’s sister Tina is actually Vinny’s mum, making Belle his aunt, Emmerdale fans have taken to social media in droves to express their disbelief at how Mandy never voiced her worries about Belle and Vinny’s closeness, despite being aware of their ‘true’ familial connection.

On an Emmerdale Facebook fan group, a viewer commented: “All that flirting, all that chemistry, all those accusations of Belle and Vinnie sleeping together and not once did Mandy panic or act the way she acted when Tina showed up. This story was rushed and made up on the spot.”

The sentiment was echoed by other fans, with another adding: “You’ve got a point there never thought of that! ! I think the writers forgot…” Another fan agreed, saying: “I agree with you, she should / would have been frightened of them starting a relationship.” And yet another fan remarked: “Totally agree – again poor scriptwriting.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
