Former Emmerdale star Jacqueline Pirie has broken her silence as she’s replaced as Tina Dingle on the ITV soap opera
Former Emmerdale star Jacqueline Pirie (now Chadwick) has broken her since as Samantha Power replaces her as Tina Dingle in the ITV soap.
The actress portrayed the role of Zak and Nellie Dingle’s daughter between 1994 and 1996. Jacqueline’s most famous storyline as Tina came in 1995 when she planned to marry Luke McAllister (Noah Huntley) after she claimed that she was carrying his child.
However, events ended in disaster when Luke discovered their relationship and pregnancy was fake in a twisted revenge plot and he was killed in a van crash. Tina left the village in 1996.
During Thursday’s (October 17) hour-long episode, the Dingles paid their respects to Zak at his funeral. At the private family gathering, Zak’s daughter Tina, now played by Samantha, made a surprise appearance, stunning her family.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter,to address Tina’s return, Jacquline penned: “So many questions regarding Tina Dingle’s return. Great character, great show. I wish @sampower_sam all the best, I loved playing her, I’m sure she will too, great cast to be a part of and, no… they didn’t ask me #emmerdale #tinadingle #dingle.”
One fan replied: “nothing on the lady who was cast but they should have asked you back you was outstanding as the character every emmerdale fan feels the same x.” Another added: “If they asked you would you have come back?”
A third person wrote: “Tina was iconic. To have original Tina back would have been awesome.” A fourth social media user said: “A very classy post. Tina was a great character -more nuanced than some Dingles- and well acted.”
After leaving Emmerdale, Jacqueline was back on television when she arrived in Coronation Street playing the role of Linda Sykes for five years and was seen as a Weatherfield pin-up.
Jacquline has since swapped the limelight for a quieter life as an author. The mum-of-two is married to her husband Simon Chadwick and the family resides in Canada.
Based in Vancouver, the former soap star now goes by the name of Jacqueline Chadwick and is known for her successful crime novels. She has written three thriller books, titled In The Still, Briefly Maiden, and Silent Sisters.
All the books centre around her ex-pat character Ali Dalglish, who is an ex-forensic psychologist turned housewife who finds herself embroiled in murder cases.
Jacqueline is also a woman of business after setting up successful drama schools including Jacqueline Chadwick Academy of Performing Arts.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
