The truth about the club crush blew the Brannings apart in EastEnders on Tuesday, as Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) finally took responsibility for her actions.
As fans of the BBC soap know, Chelsea tampered with the club’s online booking system to sabotage Penny Branning’s (Kitty Castledine) night, after Penny stole her job as manager, and recently confessed what she did to mum Denise Fox (Diane Parish).
On Monday, however, Denise revealed the truth to a stunned Penny, step-daughter Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) and estranged husband Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), wracked with guilt after hearing Penny planned to leave Walford.
The latest episode saw the fallout of the revelation, as Penny exploded at her rival for letting her take the rap, while Amy struggled to come to terms with the fact her stepsister had caused her life-changing injuries in the crush and kept quiet about it.
Jack was also devastated by Denise’s betrayal at harbouring Chelsea’s secret, believing he and his estranged wife were back on track after their night of passion last week.
After a furious family showdown, Chelsea refused to confess to the police, fearing leaving her son Jordan without either parent, as her ex-husband Gray Atkins is already serving a life sentence for the murders of Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer), Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) and Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White).
She then railed against Denise and her disgusted aunt Kim Fox (Tameka Empson), blaming her mum and her decisions with men for all the bad things that had happened in her life.
Back at the Brannings, Denise and Jack had a heart-to-heart, where he eventually confessed to still loving her and not wanting Chelsea to go to prison ‘for a silly mistake’.
However, after a visit from Amy, during which the teen delivered some home truths to her stepsister, Chelsea took her future into her own hands and revealed to the family she would be handing herself in.
Will Chelsea go down?
