Corrie favourite’s exit ‘sealed’ after 26 years – and ‘already has a new job lined up’

Coronation Street fans are convinced the soap will be saying goodbye to a show legend, following reports the actor has a new job ‘already lined up’

Coronation Street enthusiasts are speculating that a soap icon might be bidding farewell, with a new job allegedly on the horizon.

Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), a fan favourite, first graced the cobbles in 1998 and has since become one of the show’s most cherished characters. Tyrone has had his fair share of major storylines over the years – from whirlwind romances to enduring abuse at the hands of ex-fiancee Kirsty (Natalie Gumede), his stint in Weatherfield has been anything but drama-free. Currently, his daughter Hope (Isabella Flanagan) is stirring up more trouble.

Viewers will remember how the young girl was suspended from school after her vaping addiction was exposed. Last week on the soap, things took a dramatic turn when she accidentally set the living room on fire due to one of her vapes, putting her entire family at risk.

This led to an enraged Tyrone lashing out at Hope. Now, fans are worried that not only Tyrone but also Ruby could be leaving. Fans have speculated online that the duo might take a break from Weatherfield, and Hope, to visit his son Dorin in Romania, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Moreover, an exit would align with Alan’s rumoured next gig: I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! The soap star is among the many celebrities expected to feature in this year’s series of the ITV show.

Fans have been gossiping about the fate of Tyrone and Ruby on a Corrie fan page. One speculator suggested: “Looks like Tyrone and Ruby have had enough of Hope….do you think they will go to Romania to see Dorin…just them two?”

Another chimed in with their theory: “Yep and that way he can be written out for a while to go in I’m a celebrity which he’s rumoured to have signed up for.” A third supported the rumour, saying: “Exactly…that is what I was also thinking..”

Soap star Alan was rumoured to join the jungles of I’m A Celebrity last year but had to allegedly withdraw due to an injury. This time the whispers are back, placing him as a hot favourite at 1/2, according to Betting Lounge.

ITV has been approached by Reach PLC for comment.
