Things aren’t as they seem…
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (October 15), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has aired a major twist as Abe Fielding proposes in the show’s latest episode.
This week, Abe returned from his holiday with his current girlfriend Peri to find Cleo unconscious in the basement, still suffering from her previous injury.
Desperate to avoid taking her to hospital, Abe used Cleo’s hospital pass to steal antibiotics and administered the drugs himself.
It even looked like Cleo might have died, but she eventually came round and urged Abe to call an ambulance.
In today’s episode, Cleo continued to beg for external help, but Abe turned manipulative and told her that he would go to prison, leaving her alone, so she decided against it.
Meanwhile, Peri was annoyed that Abe was ignoring her calls, after he told her to dress up nice and promised to take her out somewhere.
As she was drowning her sorrows with Marie, Darren – who had just had an altercation with Abe – told Peri that he had seen him with a ring.
Peri assumed that Abe was going to propose to her and feared it was way too early in their relationship, but Marie reminded her that she had changed her son for the better.
But at the flat, Abe had actually arranged a romantic dinner for Cleo, who was still in a fragile state, and the couple shared a slow dance.
Abe got down on one knee and proposed to a delirious Cleo, but they were interrupted by a knock on the door from Peri.
He bundled Cleo back into the secret room while she asked questions, before opening the door to Peri, who was angry when she realised that he had been home all day.
Peri’s suspicions were confirmed when she spotted the romantic set up and assumed the proposal was for her, so she told Abe to pop the question.
Horrified, Abe was left with no choice but to get down on one knee and make a second proposal, which Peri happily accepted.
As it dawned on him what he had done, how will Abe get out of this mess?
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
