It comes as Jacob Roberts teases the latest twist in the storyline that sees Joel Deering’s body found after he went missing
Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts has said it’s ‘just the beginning’ as he teases the latest twist in the storyline that sees Joel Deering’s body found after he went missing.
Spoilers previously revealed that in the ITV soap this week it’ll be Kit Green and PC Craig Tinker who study CCTV from a train station car park and see Joel and then his dad, Gus, around a locker before Kit later interviews Gus and demands some answers.
But later, on a riverbank, three lads spot a body floating in the water. Craig approaches DS Lisa Swain, who was taken off of Joel’s case, and Kit and announces that they’ve found the solicitor’s body.
Soon after, Kit steals himself to break the news to Dee Dee Bailey and Lauren Bolton at the hospital while Lisa breaks the news to people in the Rovers Return.
Kit calls back at the hospital and tells Lauren that the post-mortem revealed that Joel was dead before he entered the river, so they’re now looking at a murder investigation. He goes on to question Lauren about where she was on the night of Joel’s death, the 27th September while Dee-Dee tells Ed and Ronnie Bailey that Joel was murdered.
Later, Kit reveals to Lisa that Joel died from two blows to the head, inflicted by a heavy weapon, most likely a crowbar. Lisa is shocked to discover from Yasmeen Nazier that she threw Mason Radcliffe out because he had a crowbar and Betsy is intrigued when her mum tells her to stay away from Mason.
Betsy goes on to warn Mason that the police are onto him. And as a result, behind the factory, Mason disposes of the crowbar in a bin but is caught in the act by Kit. Dee-Dee, meanwhile, explains to Ronnie that the police believe Joel was attacked with a crowbar.
Speaking about the case of Joel’s murder, Kit actor Jacob said: “I think he does know deep down, but there’s obviously complications in the way and various suspects who could be guilty.
“This week, Lisa, who is now off the case, puts it into Kit’s head that Mason could be the suspect because he had a crowbar, which makes Kit’s eyes light up. When he visits Mason, he finds him with a crowbar and Kit brings him in for questioning, but I think this is just the beginning…”of September,
Lisa is also wanting to protect her daughter following her involvement with Joel, and Madon, but how will Kit deal with her interfering in this case? “I think Kit deals with Lisa’s interference quite well but Lisa doesn’t so much,” Jacob said.
“As I said before, they are both very similar in the sense that they are workaholics and obsess over their job, so although she’s been taken off the case, she’s constantly asking questions. Kit retaliates by telling Lisa that she should be more focused on what her daughter is doing which will probably hit a nerve.”
