ITV Coronation Street Dee Dee Bailey star trades UK for exotic location after Liverpool admission

Channique Sterling-Brown wowed her co-stars as she shared trips from her trip abroad

Coronation Street’s Channique Sterling-Brown wowed fans as she shared snaps from her luxury trip abroad. The soap star is renowned for her role as Dee Dee Bailey on the long-running soap.

Dee Dee has been embroiled in the show’s major storyline this year as her fiancé, Joel Deering, wrecked havoc on the Cobbles. Joel’s reign of terror appears to have come to an end after the character, played by Calum Lill, was found dead.

DS Lisa Swain is currently investigating his murder and Channique told the ECHO in an exclusive interview this month that “everything is not as it seems” with the storyline. The 27-year-old said: “That’s what I will say. There’s a lot coming up for Dee Dee, which we will see unfold in the next few weeks so that’s been brilliant.”

Channique has enjoyed a well deserved break away from Dee Dee after a turbulent year for her onscreen counterpart. She has taken to Instagram and revealed she has jetted off to Jamaica.

She shared snaps of incredible waterfront views from the Caribbean paradise alongside the caption: “Good morning from the motherland.” The soap star has wowed fans as she shared more photos from her break this morning.

Emrhys Cooper, who plays Rowan Cunliffe in the show, took to the comments and shared a series of heart and fire emojis. The post was also liked by co-stars Harriet Bibby, Lucy Fallon and Kate Ford.

Followers also took to the comments to praise Channique. Emily said: “Unbelievable” @Beautyqueen added: “So beautiful.” Charlene posted: “Just amazing.”

Channique spoke to the ECHO at the National Diversity Awards earlier this month and was honoured to be able to present the Community Organisation award for race/faith/religion at the inspiring event held on October 4. The soap star was thrilled to be back in the city as she attended the 13th edition of the awards at the Anglican Cathedral.

She said: “What’s so exciting is this opportunity to recognise people who have had such wonderful contributions to their communities and the people they represent.” Channique explained why she loves visiting the city and said it was the perfect home for the Diversity Awards.

She told the ECHO: “What a brilliant city to champion a night like tonight. To me, Liverpool represents unity, tolerance and community so I think that it’s the perfect venue for it. I first came here when I was 19 and I was like what incredibly kind, wonderful people and so embracing.”

Channique has played an important role in promoting diversity on screen as her character was part of Coronation Street’s first black family. The soap star joined the Corrie cast in 2022 and told the ECHO how important it is to have representation on screen.

She added: “Sometimes you have to see something to believe it. I think for minorities and for people who are underrepresented in television and the arts being able to see something opens your mind more and widens your scope.”
