ITV Coronation Street split sealed for fan favourite couple after horror health diagnosis

Coronation Street has dropped a hint that a sad split is on the cards for one of the Cobble favourites after a huge health diagnosis

Coronation Street has seemingly hinted at a sad split – and shock reunion – for one of the Cobbles favourites.

Bethany Platt has made her return to Weatherfield after cosmetic surgery in Turkey went horribly wrong. Bethany – played by Lucy Fallon – was left with a permanent stoma after contracting sepsis in the botched surgery.

Horrified, Bethany has struggled to come to terms with her new life and in heartbreaking scenes on Friday, October 11, she questioned whether her boyfriend Daniel would want to be with her any more. Whilst he insisted that he wanted to keep their relationship going, Bethany said she was convinced Daniel would get back with his ex Daisy.

Speaking to her boyfriend, Bethany said: “When we first got together, I wasn’t the person that I am now. It changes the way I see myself, it changes the way I see us. You didn’t sign up for this. You deserve better.”

Daniel tried to reassure her, telling her: “Bethany I love you. Better? You mean Daisy. I don’t want Daisy, I want you,” as Bethany told him: “I’m not going to ever be the same Daniel; we will never be the same.” He fumed over her comment and tried to walk out of the hospital room, but she called him back and told him he “knew it was the truth”.

“I don’t know what I’m saying, I need to think,” Bethany said as Daniel urged them to talk about it, but she just told him to leave.

Bethany will live with a permanent stoma

Bethany actress Lucy Fallon previously admitted she feels “pressure” to get the storyline right for those who live with a stoma every day.

Of the health storyline, Lucy previously said: “When I first heard about it I was pleased that they have trusted me with it because it’s an important storyline and of course I really enjoy doing issue based storylines.

“Obviously this is really hard-hitting, which is exciting from an actor’s point of view, but it does come with quite a lot of pressure and responsibility to get it right because this happens to real life people.”

She added: “The storyline is also incredibly important as there’s countless horror stories out there of people talking about their experiences of cosmetic surgery abroad. I really hope this storyline can make people rethink going abroad for cosmetic surgery.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm.
