Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall shares emotional letter from daughter amid operation woes

It came after undergoing surgery last year and he still uses it as motivation to get back to full fitness

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has shared the emotional letter he received from his daughter after undergoing surgery last year as he uses it as motivation to get back to full fitness.

The actor, who is famed for playing Tyrone Dobbs in the BBC One dance contest, revealed on Instagram towards the end of last year that he was having surgery to fix an ACL injury.

The ACL is one of two ligaments that cross in the middle of the knee, connecting your thighbone to your shinbone and helping stabilize your knee joint and in the photo shared to his Instagram page, Alan could be seen giving a thumbs up for the camera as he explained: “ACL Reconstruction surgery [tick emoji].”

At the time he continued: “Well, On Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. I have been told the surgery went really well. I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me but I’m sure with the support of family & friends I’ll get there.”

Alan has shared a couple of looks at his rehab since and in June, Alan revealed he’d made progress. Sharing a picture of the golf course and the results of the round. “I may have scored 90 but… My first full round in 1 year!! I’m celebrating!! [beers emoji].” Alongside another snap of himself in action, the 41-year-old wrote: “(Dramatic I know but I rediscovered a piece of myself again today!!”

But it’s not always easy as the soap star revealed in his latest social media post. He took to his Instagram Story on Thursday (October 10) and said: “Sienna [red heart emoji] made this for me the day after my operation. Nearly one year later, every time I cannot be bothered with physio it inspires me…” adding a face holding back tears emoji.

In the letter, Sienna wrote to her “insane, amazing, kind-hearted dad’ that she ‘hopes he gets better soon’. She went you: “You have always been an amazing dad to me even when you’re ill or very badly injured like you are now. I’m trying to get to the point that one, you are the BEST dad EVER and two, get better as soon as you can …”

She went on to call him her ‘everything” before rounding off: “You are the best. Lots of love from Sienna.” And looking at it clearly worked as he followed-up with a photo of the gym with a GIF that said ‘workout done’ and added: “Thanks kiddo”.

Over the summer, Alan seemingly confirmed he was single again after years of dating former co-star Tisha Merry. He met Tisha, who played Steph Britton on the cobbles between 2013 to 2018, on set and they began dating shortly after she left the show. It was reported the pair had split and last month, Alan shared a humorous moment on Instagram which led him to make a dig at single life, and suggesting he might be using dating apps to find a new partner.

He shared the funny moment a playful dog attempted to mount him. He posted a picture of the dog, captioning it with a face-in-hand emoji: “Apparently we’re not best friends. Most action I’ve had in a while ffs fml.” He then shared another photo with the dog, suggesting it could be his “New Tinder profile picture”, joking about a possible return to the dating scene.
