Actress, singer, and songwriter Twinnie-Lee Moore has joined the cast of Emmerdale for an exciting guest stint.
Twinnie, known for her performance on Hollyoaks and her success in country music, will first appear on screen on Friday, October 11 as ambitious and ruthless boxing promoter Jade.
With Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) already drawn into the dark world of unlicensed boxing, Jade’s arrival will put pressure on him to continue this dangerous trade. But Jade has an agenda and Billy’s safety is not on it.
He’s tempted by Jade’s offer and the financial promises that come with it, but he’s also aware of the dangerous consequences it may bring. Over the coming months, will Billy come to regret his association with callous Jade or has he already put his family in grave danger? Also, how will Jade’s arrival impact Billy’s relationship with wife Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley)?
Speaking about her new role, Twinnie said: “My life has been a bit crazy recently juggling music and acting with lots of back and forth between Nashville and Yorkshire but I;ve been loving it.
“I’ve loved being back on screen, especially as the show is shot in Yorkshire, being able to be home with family and go to work on such an iconic show has been nothing short of amazing. The whole team has been so welcoming and really supportive. My character is so much fun to play and I can’t wait to see how the audience reacts to her.”
Soap fans will remember that Twinnie played Porsche McQueen from 2014 until 2015. Her character highlighted the issues of sexual abuse in children, whilst her other storylines included a failed marriage when her husband had various affairs. She was nominated for the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer and an Inside Soap Award in 2015 for her powerful portrayal.
Having been singing and writing music since she was a child, Twinnie self-released her debut self-titled EP in 2016 before dropping the Better When I’m Drunk EP via BMG two years later.
Hit singles followed before she made mainstream waves with her standout debut studio album Hollywood Gypsy in 2020 – a sold-out headline tour of the UK followed in support of the record alongside performances at acclaimed music festivals including CMA Fest, C2C Festival, Bonnaroo, and more.
In 2022, Twinnie released her EP Welcome to the Club alongside a short film that narrated the mental health journey of the project. Twinnie moved from the UK to Nashville, Tennessee in April 2023 to develop her music career. She made her Grand Ole Opry debut on November 3, 2023.
