Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) has returned to Coronation Street, and she was very quickly struck with fear for good friend Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King).
After learning that Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) had been staying with Yasmeen and partner Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows), Eileen was less than impressed.
She and Stu soon came to blows in the cafe, as Stu insisted that Mason deserved a second chance – though his reaction left a sour taste in Eileen’s mouth.
Later, Eileen paid Yasmeen a visit to air her concerns, explaining that she got the impression Stu’s wants didn’t line up with Yasmeen’s, and that, although she knew he was no Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew), she was concerned he was the one calling all the shots in their relationship.
Viewers will know that Geoff was Yasmeen’s abusive ex-husband, who made her life hell during their marriage.
Her ordeal finally came to an end when he fell from a roof to his death in 2020.
Yasmeen assured Eileen that she had nothing to worry about, and promised that she and Stu respected each other’s boundaries.
Eileen appeared relieved, and told Yasmeen that she knew where she was if anything changed.
Stu was understandably less than impressed to later discover that he had been compared to Geoff.
Though Yasmeen assured him that they were nothing out, she pointed out that she did have some trepidation when it came to Mason.
Stu once again backed the lad, promising that he just needed someone in his corner so that he could turn his life around.
With the couple still disagreeing about Mason, is Eileen right to be concerned about the future of their relationship?
