Coronation Street star Calum Lill has given fans a four-word update on Joel Deering following his recent disappearance. The actor is regularly quizzed about the downfaill of his character after his evil crimes were uncovered.

As viewers of the ITV soap know, Joel was uncovered as Lauren Bolton’s ‘secret boyfriend’ who was showering her with gifts. However, the truth was much darker as it was revealed he was behind her disappearance and presumed murder after he was seen attacking her with a chair leg.

Luckily,, the teen survived the attack and months after first going missing, she returned to Weatherfield over the summer when Roy Cropper fell ill following his release from prison after being wrongly accused of being behind Lauren’s ‘murder’.

Joel’s partner Dee-Dee Bailey soon discovered what her fiancé had been up to and has since teamed up with DS Lisa Swain to bring Joel down after it was revealed that Lauren, who was pregnant when she came back to the cobbles, wasn’t the only young girl he had groomed.

But at the end of last month, Corrie viewers saw Joel not show up to his plea hearing and a warrant was issued for his arrest after he was charged with buying the drugs used to prompt Lauren’s early labour, having intended for her to miscarry, leaving their son Frankie’s health at risk.

Then, after transferring money to Lauren and his ex-wife Emily, it was believed Joel may end up taking his own life. Dee-Dee isn’t convinced this is what Joel has done, and now Swain has been taken off the case after she discovered that Joel had threatened to kill her daughter, Betsy, after she got caught up with the unsavoury character.

Actor Calum has now taking part in an Instagram Q&A with his followers and fans were eager to ask about Joel, with one asking ”Will we find out what happened to Joel?” to which Calum quickly responded: ”All in good time,” with a picture of him in full Joel mode.

PC Craig approaches Swain and Kit and announces that they’ve found Joel’s body. Kit steals himself to break the news to Dee Dee and Lauren at the hospital while Lisa breaks the news to people in the Rovers. But later, Kit calls back at the hospital and tells Lauren that the post-mortem revealed that Joel was dead before he entered the river, so they’re now looking at a murder investigation.

It means Calum will be leaving the soap and teasing his future plans Calum was asked in his social media question and answer session whether he would ever be a TV presenter. The soap star then said in a typed-out response: ”Yes 100% if the opportunity came up.”
