Dana ambushes Harper about her continued excuses to keep the baby secret from Tane. It’s starting to feel that there is always going to be a reason not to tell him. Harper snaps that it’s not the baby that she’s worried about. She’s in love with him – how is she supposed to hide that from him every day?
Dana reassures Harper that she has her back, but this baby’s still coming. She argues that Harper’s feelings are making her delay something that should not be delayed and he deserves to know.
Harper asks Tane to meet up with her, and his assumption is that it’s about Perri. She clarifies that it’s not, but before she can say anything, her phone rings. It’s Perri’s dad. Perri has been clear that he doesn’t want anyone contacting his father, but Harper is determined to defuse the situation.
Tane wants to have a more confrontational approach, but Harper reminds him that this is what crisis looks like – it’s confusing and messy but it’s the reality for Perri.
Carl shows up to surprise Perri at the gym with a little chat. He tries to convince Perri to do just one job for him, but when Perri refuses, Carl gets intimidating. Tane steps in, telling Carl that he needs to leave and not come back.
With Tane at his side, Perri finds the strength to stand his ground against his father. Enraged, Carl gets into his car and looks up Tane on his phone. He makes a discovery – Tane is on a suspended sentence.
Meanwhile, Kirby tries to encourage Mali to enter an art competition, but he refuses – it’s just not the right time. She tells him to at least think about it and promises to drop the subject. But later, at lunch, Kirby’s promise to keep quiet about the art competition is quickly broken, and Alf and Marilyn are soon marvelling about Mali’s talent, looking at a photo of the artwork that Kirby has on her phone. Mali’s not happy that she took it.
Later, Alf visits Mali at work to apologise for talking about the competition.
