For the first time in a decade, the ITV soap’s current cast united on the set for an all-important snapshot
Coronation Street star Sair Khan has said she’s ‘back in business’ as she was seen back on the cobbles on what was a big day for the cast. For the first time in a decade, the ITV soap’s current cast united on the set for an all-important snapshot.
It has been ten years since the entire cast, including the show’s young soap stars and on-screen pets, posed together for an image. The last is reported to have been taken in 2014 to mark the show’s move to the then-brand-new MediaCity set.
Some of the cast have already shared a glimpse at the full-cast reunion, with Sair among them having recently returned to Corrie to reprise the role of Alya Nazir.
The actress welcomed her first child into the world earlier this year with her partner Nathan Chilton. Sair kept much of her pregnancy out of the spotlight and as her exit scenes aired on-screen, the new mum confirmed her son’s arrival in May.
On-screen, Sair’s character Alya Nazir left Weatherfield to pursue a job opportunity in Dublin, but before she left she and her boss Adam Barlow. played by Sam Robertson, getting close.
Last month, Sair revealed that she is back at work with a post on her Instagram Story. Sharing a shot of her scripts, she wrote: “I’m Backstreet.” And now she’s been seen reunited with Dee-Dee Bailey co-star Channique Sterling-Brown as they got together for the new snap, reportedly taken to mark Helen Worth’s exit after five decades playing Gail Platt.
Channique shared a selfie to her Instagram story of them both preparing for the snap, writing “Bailey and Nazir reunited for @coronationstreet picture day,” with Luca Toolan (Mason Radcliffe), Rob Mallard (Daniel Osbourne) and Vinta Morgan (Ronnie Bailey) seen smiling behind them.
Sair has since shared her own snap of herself and Channique posing for the camera, writing: “Bailey and Nazir back in business @coronationstreet,” after viewers saw the pair teaming up for work at Adam’s solicitor’s office.
Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon also shared a vide of herself amongst her co-stars waiting for the photo to be taken, with co-star Paddy Bever (Max Turner) and Julia Goulding (Shona Platt) either side of her. She captioned the post as being “school picture day”.
Elsewhere, Cassie Plummer actress Claire Sweeney expressed her excitement at being part of the full cast snap alongside Sue Devaney, who viewers know for playing Debbie Webster. In a video of them on the famous street, Claire said: “This is iconic. We’re going to do the cast photo and I woke up this morning and thought, ‘I can’t believe I’m going to do a Corrie cast photo’.”
Sue added: “This is amazing. It’s absolutely amazing. Everyone’s standing up there and we’re joining in,” before they excitedly added: “Even the doggies are here!” referring to Freddie, Roy Cropper’s pooch, and David, owned by David Platt.
