EastEnders has announced the arrival of Teddy Mitchell’s mystery ex-wife ahead of her debut on the BBC soap in the coming weeks, and the actress has been on the show before
EastEnders has confirmed the arrival of Teddy Mitchell’s estranged wife Nicola in a new BBC soap announcement.
The role has been cast with the actress playing Nicola revealing all about the role. She might be a familiar face to viewers too, having starred in several shows – and she’s also been on the BBC soap before.
Nicola will be played by actress Laura Doddington, who has previously starred in Doctors, Holby City, Casualty, The Bill and The Midwich Cuckoos. Laura has also appeared on a number of Doctor Who spin-offs and podcasts.
Now, she’s heading to Walford 15 years after her last appearance on the show in 2009. Back then she played a character named Barbara for a guest role in scenes with Zainab Masood and Masood Ahmed.
This time around, Laura is joining the Mitchell family. She will be revealed as the mystery ex-wife of Teddy, and the mother of his sons Barney and Harry Mitchell.
Teddy will get the shock of his life as the character he’s seemingly been avoiding comes looking for him. After weeks of teasers about a mystery person trying to track him down, is it his wife Nicola and what does she want?

It seems the newcomer is going nowhere, refusing to leave and keen to make amends with her kids. More is expected to be revealed about what has happened and why they aren’t on talking terms.
Speaking about her new role, actress Laura said: “I still can’t believe I’ve joined EastEnders – I keep pinching myself! I grew up watching the show, so the first time I filmed in The Vic, I was like a kid at Christmas to be in such an iconic place with such a brilliant cast and crew.
“Nicola is a complex woman who comes in like the Tasmanian Devil! She’s strong and completely unapologetic about who she is. I’ve been so lucky to have my Mitchell boys, Roland, Elijah and Lewis, as they’ve taken me under their wing, and we feel like a family already. I’m loving every second so far.”
Soap boss Chris Clenshaw teased what viewers can expect from the newcomer. He said: “Like all the great Mitchell women, Nicola is feisty, strong and loves her family. She and Teddy share a very complicated history, which will be fun to explore, as will her relationships with her two sons. We’re delighted to welcome the fantastic Laura Doddington to EastEnders to bring Nicola to life.”
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
