Daniel Brocklebank previews Wednesday’s big episode.
Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has spoken to Digital Spy about Paul Foreman’s upcoming funeral episode.
Daniel’s character Billy Mayhew faces an emotional day in Wednesday’s episode (October 2) as he leads the service at his late husband’s send-off.
The traditional church service takes place on what would have been Billy and Paul’s first wedding anniversary.
Shortly before the funeral is about to begin, Paul’s troublesome father Denny makes a surprise appearance. Billy warns him to stay out of sight and not cause any problems, understandably wary after Denny’s shameless plan to steal from Paul earlier this year.
Daniel spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about the episode while on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards on Monday night.
He told us: “To film it was incredibly emotional. It’s Corrie, so the fans can expect it to be moving, humorous, a bit of drama.”
On Denny’s unexpected arrival, Daniel added: “Naughty Denny! What is he doing? He’s so naughty. He does turn up.
“Billy’s focus is more on the fact that he’s about to bury his husband on what would have been their wedding anniversary. So he’s thrown a little bit by Denny turning up.
“I don’t know how much I can say without spoiling it, but it causes issues, let’s just say that!”
Billy and Paul’s storyline was one of the big winners at last night’s Inside Soap Awards ceremony, which took place in London.
Peter Ash, who played Paul, triumphed in the Best Actor category, while he also won Best Partnership alongside Daniel.
Paul’s journey living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) was also named Best Storyline. Coronation Street took home the big prize for Best Soap too.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
