EastEnders icon confirms plans to ‘take a step away’ from acting

EastEnders star Bobby Brazier revealed his plans to step away from acting.

The Strictly Come Dancing finalist, 21, who has played Freddie Slater on the soap since 2022 -shared that he needs ‘a break’ after his various projects have started building up.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column, he said: ‘I think I need to step away from acting for a bit and have a break.

‘I’m 20, but I haven’t felt 20 in a very long time.’

Bobby – the son of Jeff Brazier and late reality star Jade Goody – previously opened up about his struggles with fame.

Reflecting on his rising popularity, Bobby told The Times: ‘I don’t want to be famous. Maybe I did when I was younger, but now I just want to act. I went on Strictly because dancing makes me happy.

‘The more I learn about fame, the less I’m interested in it. There were a couple of weeks during Strictly when it got too much. I only felt peace when I came home to be with Freddie, Dad and Kate, my stepmum.’

He added: ‘I wanted to get voted off. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job. I love being on EastEnders and I love modelling. But I’ll probably take a break at some point. Just travel, get inspired, meet new people. Dad will understand. Who knows, he might come with me.’

Over on Albert Square Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) encourages her daughter Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) to give things a go with Freddie, and the pair soon agree to be friends again and head out on a bird watch together.

When they later arrive back at The Vic, they are met with disapproving glares from Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), who soon turns vocal in his dismay at the two hanging out.

His words force Cindy to walk out and she is in no forgiving mood when he later attempts to apologise.
