Emmerdale’s next episode will see a former Dingle family member mentioned, as a twist will see them attempt to help Belle Dingle after her attack on Tom King
Emmerdale’s Belle Dingle could have an unexpected hero in the form of a past Dingle character who could make a return after a twist this week.
An ex Dingle relative gets mentioned on Tuesday night, with it revealed they will vow to help Belle amid her trouble with abusive husband Tom King. The Dingle in question will team up with relative Sam Dingle, in a bid to save Belle from trouble after she wedged an axe in Tom’s back and nearly killed him.
Belle was acting in self-defence, after months of horrendous emotional and physical abuse by Tom ranging from coercive control and isolation, to manipulation and violent assaults. He threatened to kill her with a shotgun last week and it looked as though he was going to do it, having just beaten her.
Belle attacked Tom with an axe and feared she’d killed him, but he was rushed to hospital with his fate confirmed on Monday. With Belle now facing huge trouble with the law if Tom exposes her, the Dingles are desperate to protect her.
A new preview clip for Tuesday’s episode hints at a sad exit for Belle, as brother Sam urges her to flee the village. Lydia warns her that if she doesn’t leave soon, she could face prison.

It’s then that a past Dingle is referenced, and Sam announces they have agreed to help them protect Belle. The character plans to come to Belle’s rescue, while it’s not known if we will see them onscreen.
The Dingle in question is Mystic Dingle, a relative of the family who lives in Ireland. He has been on the show in the past, in scenes with others including Sam and Zak Dingle.
Mystic agrees to help Sam and offers Belle somewhere to hide out, but Belle is unsure about fleeing to Ireland. Sam tells her: “I called our Mystic… he’s happy to do the usual.” Belle responds: “So you want me to run off to Ireland to Mystic Dingle’s?”
Sam tells her: “We don’t want you to,” as Lydia adds: “You have to. As soon as Tom gives that statement to the police they’re gonna be round here.” Sam adds: “It’s the only way we can protect you.”
But will Belle leave the village to escape Tom and the police in a sad exit twist, or will she stand her ground and face her abuser? It was revealed recently that Tom actor James Chase had left the show, so might Belle finally get justice?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
