Coronation Street’s Kit Green actor Jacob Roberts has teased his character’s ‘bad boy’ behaviour and the mystery surrounding his backstory, with fans convinced he’s the next big villain
Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts has teased what Kit Green could be hiding after fans ‘rumbled’ a dark backstory for the newcomer.
Kit was introduced as Bernie Winter’s secret son earlier this year, and soon he clashed with her after being abandoned. He’d been adopted as a baby with his siblings Gemma and Paul not knowing he existed, and then when Kit was a teenager Bernie failed to show up to a planned meet.
He now resents her even after the sad loss of his brother Paul in recent weeks. We’ve seen Kit seemingly up to no good since his arrival setting up Bernie and targeting her, but also other characters too,
From blackmailing residents, to tampering with evidence and even carrying out dodgy dealings with criminals, fans are sure he is a baddie. With Joel Deering set to leave the soap fans are wondering if Kit is the next big villain with a secret agenda, and perhaps a dark past.
Amid speculation he has a secret and may have even killed before, actor Jacob spoke exclusively to The Mirror about what his character’s backstory could be. He teased Kit was a baddie but maybe not quite a villain, as he suggested there was “mystery” yet to be exposed about his pre-Corrie days.

He said: “I’m enjoying that you don’t know too much about him at the moment. That mystery there, he’s an independent character. He doesn’t rely on anyone else. I would quite like to keep it that way for as long as possible before you find out why he is the way he is.”
Jacob went on: “I think he has a bad side, but I don’t think he is quite a villain but I’ll let the audience be the judge that one. He does things and justifies them like with the Nathan stuff. He thought he was getting another bad person off the street.
“He likes making a bit of money on the side like with the counterfeit t-shirts, cos he knows he will get away with it. We don’t know if he’s capable of murder or if he’s totally innocent.
“That sort of stuff is always nice to know but I don’t even know what’s coming up! I just like this naughty side where he can get away with it, and if we can keep going with that, the blackmail, the people in his pockets, that would be great.”
