Emrhys Cooper shared ome exciting news away from the cobbles – and he looked a far cry from playing Rowan Cunliffe
Coronation Street star Emrhys Cooper said he was ‘thrilled to announce’ some exciting news away from the cobbles – and he looked a far cry from playing Rowan Cunliffe.
Fans first saw the actor in the ITV soap as Institute mentor Rowan back in March when Leanne Battersby accompanied Simon Barlow to one of his seminars at the Chariot Square Hotel.
Leanne was taken aback when the group mentor approached her and offered her some unsolicited advice as she dealt with some problems at home. But as viewers know, Rowan quickly manipulated Leanne into joining the Institute, turning her against her family in the process.
But earlier this month, Corrie fans were led to believe that Rowan’s comeuppance had been confirmed after Leanne tricked him into revealing his guilt over conning members of The Institute into revealing their innermost thoughts before convincing them to invest in the company.
After Leanne had emailed herself some of the files from his laptop exposing his recording of ‘upload’ sessions from members as well as banking details, Rowan tried to guilt-trip Leanne into deleting and handing over any copies of the documents, claiming he was a victim of the cult-like Institute as well.
After she handed over what she had, Rowan twisted the knife by insulting Leanne and lifting his victim facade. But it was already too late, as Amy Barlow, Toyah Habeeb and Nick Tilsley arrived as back-up and confirmed the police had been called and they were on their way.
It was later confirmed that Rown had been charged with blackmail and fraud but Emrhys hinted recently that it’s seemingly not the last we’ll hear – or see – of Rowan as he shared a selfie of himself back in his dressing room at the Corrie set and wrote on his Instagram Story: “‘It’s not personal, it’s Strictly business.'”
But away from his role in the long-running soap, Emrhys has been busy with a project of his own. He has revealed that he has been involved in a remake of the 1922 silent film, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, which will be released in a matter of weeks.
Alongside a clip, the actor wrote on Instagram: “I’m thrilled to FINALLY share our film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, a remake of the 1922 silent film is being released on the 18th of October.
“It’s been an incredible journey bringing this iconic tale back to life, and I couldn’t be more honoured to star alongside the legendary @actordougjones in this dark and haunting reimagining. Excited to share the official trailer. #Nosferatu.”
And his friends and followers were quick to respond with support for the film, in which Emrhys looks totally different as he plays Thomas Hutter, one of the protagonists of the film.
