The teen was seen for the first time after being released from Young Offenders again in the ITV soap
Coronation Street fans think they have worked out Mason Radcliffe’s future in Weatherfield after he was seen for the first time after being released from a young offenders prison again.
The character, played by Luca Toolan, was only back on the cobbles over the summer following his first release after being charged with being in possession of a knife. Viewers of the ITV soap were devastated as they watched Liam Connor become the victim of the cruel Weatherfield High bully and his group of mates – including Liam’s friend Dylan Wilson. It was during one of his horrific bullying sessions that Mason pulled a knife on the terrified teen.
After his initial release, Mason returned to Weatherfield following his release and was quickly taken under the wing of Stu Carpenter, despite opposition from Sean Tully, Maira and Gary Windass.
His return also saw him grow closer to Betsy Swain, the daughter of DS Lisa Swain, but the troublemaker soon turned on the bad boy and landed him back inside after stealing a phone from a customer’s bag at Speed Daal and planting it on him so he got into trouble.
However, during Wednesday night’s (September 25) Corrie, Mason was seen back on the cobbles after Liam admitted that it was Betsy who was responsible for the theft at Speed Daal.
Betsy wasn’t happy with Dylan and just as a nervous Liam arrived to find out Mason was being released, the man himself appeared. A text was quickly sent to Gary who was in the pub with Maria. The pair, as well as Sean, went rushing over to Victoria Gardens where Gary quickly pinned Mason against the gate and threatened him.
Stu Carpenter just happened to be walking past at the time and intervened. Back at Speed Daal, Stu agreed that Mason could have his job back and apologised to the teen for not believing his innocence from the start.
And Corrie fans think this could be Mason’s ‘redemption arc’ and that his future is in Weatherfield. @RyanTheSoapking said: “They are clearly giving Mason a redemption arc. He could become a good character if he’s given a chance. #Corrie.” @Yorvik187 commented: “Mason seems to be in the process of a personality transplant. #corrie
@joy9kat shared: “I really hope Mason turns over a new leaf and becomes a paragon of virtue, just to p**s off holier than thou Gary, Maria and Sean! Sorry #Corrie.” @crnf302 noted: “Corrie regular storyline: introduce a hateful, pantomime baddie character (male or female) who everyone hates – then reform them into a saintly, much-loved Street regular.” @v_29_92 added: “I feel like Mason’s gonna fit in the street fine. They all have dirty pasts, the child’s innocent compared to Gary Windass.”
But it was after a scene between Gary and DS Lisa Swain, during which Gary threatened to harm Mason, that had Corrie fans wondering when his past will come back to haunt him. @cb_038 posted: “Gary the murderer face to face with DS Swain, poor Rick will be spinning! #Corrie.” @janwilkins59 asked: “When is Gary going to get done for all his murders?! #Corrie.” @kylieskaty added: “Lisa, you should arrest gary for his crimes! #Corrie.”
