Lauren Bolton was shocked to receive more money from Joel Deering as he is facing comeuppance on the cobbles. But after Emily was given the same gift, his plan has been rumbled.
Joel Deering has a long-term plan but what will it really mean for Lauren Bolton and his ex-wife Emily?
Actor Calum Lill is on his way out of Coronation Street after his ITV alter ego Joel Deering was revealed to have tormented Lauren Bolton, bribing her for sexual favours with money and lavish gifts, eventually resulting in the birth of their son Frankie, who he tried to kill.
In more recent scenes, Joel was seen trying to get his former fiancee Dee-Dee Bailey to give him a second chance but he eventually had to accept he could no longer save the relationship.
This Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Joel stunned once again as Lauren Bolton (played by Cait Fitton) told Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) she had received a £5k transfer from Joel.

The pair tried to work out what could be behind the duty solicitor’s generous gift, particularly as he tried to kill Lauren on two separate occasions, one of which led her to flee from Weatherfield.
Dee-Dee stressed to Lauren she shouldn’t touch a penny of Joel’s money as she believed it could be a ruse to getting her on the bad side of the law. But as the episode drew to a close, Dee-Dee was shocked when Emily, Joel’s ex-wife, told her she had received the same bank transfer.
While Joel gave no warning and issued no threat, this could be the beginning of his run or, perhaps, another huge revenge plan as he tries to get his successful life back.
In scenes due to air next week, and as spoilers have teased, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) breaks the news that Joel is dead after the character goes missing. When Dee-Dee Bailey receives a voice message from her evil ex-fiancé, the detective then warns that it could be a suicide note.
Locating Joel’s phone signal, Swain and colleague Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) track the villain’s last whereabouts and find his car parked on a bridge – with a cryptic note left on the dashboard.
The discovery leaves the pair convinced Joel has died, and Swain breaks the news that they are now looking for Joel’s body. Later in the week Dee-Dee is convinced Joel is actually on the run and has faked his own death to cover his tracks, after making another huge discovery.
Later on, after a run-in with Joel’s dad, Lisa Swain is forced to step in and tells Dee-Dee to accept Joel is dead – but doubts that he may be planning a big and deadly move continue to emerge in Dee-Dee’s mind. Plenty of villains have vanished from Weatherfield in the past, only to return ready to cause mayhem. Could Joel join their ranks?
