Coronation Street fans are convinced that Toyah will be at the centre of an emotional long-lost sibling storyline – with her sister already on the cobbles.
Coronation Street viewers are speculating that Toyah Battersby, played by Georgia Taylor, is due for a long-lost sibling plot twist, with her sister already residing on the cobbles.
Toyah has been a constant presence on the soap since she arrived with the rest of the Battersby family in 1997 and has been involved in numerous significant storylines over the years.
Earlier this year, she made the shocking revelation that she had given birth to a stillborn baby girl when she was 19 and had buried her in a local park. This pregnancy was the result of a rape by Phil Simmonds (Jack Deam), a former resident of the street.
Toyah kept this secret for decades until this year, when she confided in her sister Leanne (Jane Danson) and brother-in-law Nick Platt (Ben Price).
Additionally, Toyah began an affair with Nick while Leanne was preoccupied with the mysterious cult, The Institute. The truth about Nick and Toyah’s relationship has since been revealed, leaving Leanne devastated, reports the Liverpool Echo. Toyah has also battled cancer.
However, viewers are convinced that another dramatic storyline awaits Toyah as they predict a long-lost sibling plot could unfold on screen.
Fans have taken to social media to comment on the striking resemblance between Toyah and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), leading them to believe the two could be related. They now anticipate a long-lost sibling storyline is imminent.
One Coronation Street fan speculated on a Facebook fan page: “If the writers wanted to, they could definitely retcon Toyah and Summer being long-lost siblings.”
Another viewer responded: “Glad it’s not just me who thought Summer was Toyah then.” A third chimed in with: “Can definitely see this happening!”
Summer, the character, has also been through a tough time recently. Her adoptive father Paul Foreman, played by Peter Ash, tragically passed away after a battle with MND.
Viewers will remember that Paul received his diagnosis last year, and in heart-wrenching scenes earlier this month, he died surrounded by his loved ones.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
