Former Coronation Street actress Lisa George, who played Beth Tinker, has excitedly shared an update with fans following her exit from the ITV soap after 13 years
Coronation Street star Lisa George has excitedly celebrated a new milestone after exiting the ITV soap. The actress portrayed Beth Tinker in Corrie for 13 years, but her final scenes aired in September after she decided to quit her role.
Lisa, 51, revealed she’s taken up a new hobby following her soap exit. She shared a photograph to her Instagram Stories showing her beaming for the camera while in a park, revealing she’d completed her first ever Parkrun.
The actress looked pleased with herself as she posed make-up free, sporting a black baggy T-shirt and her blonde locks tied back. Lisa told fans: “2 weeks training… First park run ever!!! 5k.”
Parkrun is a popular weekly event which runs at different parks across the world, where runners can complete a five kilometre run with others. The events take place every Saturday morning at 2,000 different locations, with runners’ able to track their time and progress.
Lisa’s update comes after her final Coronation Street scenes as Beth aired. Viewers saw her leave partner Kirk (Andy Whyment) devastated and confused, following his proposal. Corrie fans know that Beth is being forced out by corrupt cop Kit Green, who has told her he’ll ruin son Craig’s career in the police force unless they disappear. His threats come after her attempt to bribe him with a video backfired, while his attempt to blackmail her proved successful.
In the storyline Kirk had just proposed to Beth for the second time, having discovered years ago that she’d committed bigamy when she married him the first time around in 2015. But poor Kirk had his heart broken as she pretended that she had to leave to take up a new job at a factory in Norwich.
Lisa has admitted she cried real tears after filming the exit scenes. She said: “It was so hard. I was really sad filming it myself because it was gorgeous, and you see in that scene it was heartbreaking, because it was everything that she wanted. It was awful. She broke his heart, and even when she left he was saying, ‘I’ll change, I’ll change whatever you want’, believing it was his fault.”
Lisa continued, adding: “I got a right lump in my throat when we filmed it, because it actually felt really real when she said ‘you know, you haven’t done anything wrong. You don’t need to change. You’re always perfect to me’.”
