Coronation Street fans are predicting danger ahead for Betsy Swain as she could be the one to trigger Joel Deering’s downfall, but she may face trouble with the law herself
Coronation Street teased Betsy Swain could be caught up in Joel Deering’s evil crimes in the latest episode, amid fears she’s in danger.
Some viewers are convinced Joel will want revenge on the teen as she could be the person that holds the key to getting him charged. So far the police haven’t had enough evidence to confirm Joel groomed Lauren, assaulted her and then tried to kill her baby.
While DS Swain and Dee-Dee Bailey are on the right track, the police still have not been able to charge and hold Joel. While his downfall is set ahead of his exit, Swain hasn’t got the power to send him away for good.
But Betsy could hold the key to that in a dark twist, as she made a worrying confession to pal Sabrina on Wednesday. While she didn’t reveal what she did, she hinted she was caught up in Joel’s crimes.
She kept mentioning Lauren’s baby Frankie, who is now poorly thanks to Joel drugging Lauren while she was pregnant. He tried to kill her unborn baby resulting in Frankie’s premature birth, and now doctors believe his ill health could be linked to the tablets.
Amid fans thinking Joel will target Betsy, some believe Betsy will confess to being linked to the pills given to Lauren. Betsy told Lauren she was “sorry” but didn’t explain why, leaving her rattled.
She then told Sabrina she could go to prison after telling her offscreen what she had done, with Sabrina saying it was “serious”. Betsy then kept talking about the drugs and that she had no idea what Joel was planning, so did she help Joel to get them?
She’s clearly involved somehow and is now struggling with what she’s done. But could she confess all to her mum DS Swain, and will this lead to Joel’s comeuppance?
Taking to X one fan posted: “I wonder if Joel will know there’s no way out, he might kidnap Betsy.” On Betsy’s confession, another fan said: “Tell me Joel didn’t get Betsy to buy the drugs.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
