Emmerdale favourite’s return ‘sealed’ after worrying Moira scene amid tumour diagnosis

Emmerdale fans are convinced Adam Barton will return to the ITV soap amid mum Moira Dingle’s brain tumour diagnosis, after a worrying scene with Cain Dingle

Viewers of Emmerdale were left speculating a huge return was on the cards following Moira Dingle’s brain tumour diagnosis.

After Thursday’s episode saw Moira learn she had a mass on her brain, Friday’s visit to the Dales saw doctors reveal she had a type of brain tumour called a meningioma. They revealed it was inside of her skull and near the left temporal lobe, and that she would need surgery to have it removed.

Her recent symptoms have included confusion, memory loss, seizures as well as behavioural changes including outbursts and odd behaviour. Her confusion and trance-like behaviour led to her causing a deadly fire at the farm this week, with a number of characters left in danger.

On Monday she remained in hospital and sadly suffered another seizure. After a neurosurgeon advised the best course of action would be to wait and see what happens with the tumour, with medication to control the seizures, her husband Cain Dingle stormed out.

When Moira was discharged and sent home he was worried, but Moira urged him to hear what the doctors had to say. She explained the treatment options, revealing that while there was the option to have surgery she wanted to wait like the doctors advised.

But during her chat with Cain about what they were up against, she left her husband concerned with something she said. As she told him to support her and her decision, she called him Adam instead of Cain.

She seemed completely unaware that she had done this before hugging him, while Cain looked really concerned. Adam is Moira’s son, played by Adam Thomas, with him currently on the run.

But amid Moira’s diagnosis and her worsening symptoms, with her showing signs of neurological deterioration, could this lead to the return of son Adam after years away? Fans certainly think so, believing the character will finally return after his exit back in 2018.

Taking to X, one fan posted: “Oh dear. He’s not Adam darling,” as a second predicted: “Could this name drop be hinting at a return?” A third agreed: “Moira calling Cain ‘Adam’, bring him back,” as another said: “Calling Cain Adam,” with a sad face emoji.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
