Coronation Street viewers are convinced that Joel Deering will be killed off in upcoming scenes as they predict his downfall will begin to unfold on the ITV soap
Corrie enthusiasts are buzzing with theories about Joel Deering’s (played by Callum Lill) fate on the cobbles, with some eager for his comeuppance while others dread he’ll dodge justice.
During Monday night’s nail-biter, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) and DS Swain (Vicky Myers) doubled down on their quest to bring Joel down, confronting another victim who eventually found the bravery to stand against him.
Dee-Dee also scouted out Joel’s former boss, wrangling an agreement to ditch a Non-Disclosure Agreement that could see Joel sent down.
By the episode’s climax, Dee-Dee was seen winding up Joel – but will her determination see his reign of terror come crashing down?
In a lighter exchange as Joel queried if she was bogged down by work, Dee-Dee cheekily quipped: “I am always busy, me. I am learning to play the banjo,” reports the Liverpool Echo.
A perplexed Joel responded, only for Dee-Dee to retort with a gleeful: “Actually, I am getting quite good.”
As Joel mused about a street performance in her future, Dee-Dee’s dark comeback hinted at his possible doom: “Maybe, that’s assuming you’ll be free to walk these streets,” leaving viewers eager to see what unfolds next.
Fans flocked to social media, previously known as Twitter, buzzing with speculation over Joel’s fate. One user posted: “I think Swain will shoot Joel dead. Cop mode on, she’ll do it to protect her women. (Carla, Dee Dee and Betsy).”
Another chimed in: “Yes, I definitely think Joel’s time is up and he will be killed off!”
A concerned viewer commented: “Oh dear, now she is stalking our dear Joel. He really needs an injunction. His life could be in danger here. #Corrie.”
Meanwhile someone else noted: “Ellie has done the right thing. Joel’s downfall is getting closer,” as another person echoed the sentiment: “Oh another Joel victim hopefully take him down #Corrie.”
And one more opined: “I really hope it is the beginning of the end for Joel! #Corrie.”
But fans should brace themselves for if their predictions come ‘true’ and Joel meets his demise, DS Swain might just find herself behind bars…
In other Weatherfield news, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) was thrown a career lifeline by Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), who suggests that Bethany’s aspirations in journalism might be realised through covering a cosmetic clinic in Turkey.
However, Bethany faces grim consequences from a botched cosmetic job leading to a fight against sepsis.
Lucy opened up about her latest plot twist, enthusing: “When I first heard about it I was pleased that they have trusted me with it because it’s an important storyline and of course, I really enjoy doing issue-based storylines. Obviously, this is really hard-hitting, which is exciting from an actor’s point of view, but it does come with quite a lot of pressure and responsibility to get it right because this happens to real-life people.”
She also stressed the importance of the narrative, adding: “The storyline is also incredibly important as there are countless horror stories out there of people talking about their experiences of cosmetic surgery abroad. I really hope this storyline can make people rethink going abroad for cosmetic surgery.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV.
