Mercedes McQueen’s cancer battle, Abe Fielding’s next victim and Jack Osborne’s fate has been revealed as Hollyoaks jumped forward a year in a new era for the Channel 4 soap
Hollyoaks residents have been through a lot over the past year.
Fans of the Channel 4 soap have been eager to find out what their favourite characters have been up to over the past 12 months following the devastating motorbike accident.
During Monday’s (September 16) first time jump episode, viewers got to follow pub landlord Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) around the village as he passed by his neighbours giving clues on where everyone is at a year down the line.
Tony was spotted picking up flowers from Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) to lay on a grave but he wasn’t not the only one paying respects as the Osbornes and Lomaxes also stood solemnly at gravesides.
It was revealed that James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) had died in a car explosion and Suzanne Ashworth (Suzanne Hall) passed away due to the injuries he picked up following the motorbike crash caused by Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin).
Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna), who was feared dead after the accident, was also spotted at the graveyard with Pearl Anderson (Dawn Hope) paying their respects to Suzanne.
Fans will know that Cleo jumped on a motorbike to escape her abusive boyfriend Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) and she lost control, crashing into the McQueen’s home.
He ended up catching up with Cleo in the hospital as medics looked over her injuries. She disappeared from her bed and it has since been revealed that he’s been keeping her captive in his flat for a year despite him sparking up a new romance with Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell).
But as well as the anniversary of two deaths, people were moving on and love is in the air for Misbah Maalik (Harvey Virdi) and Donny Clark (Louis Emerick) and Prince McQueen (Malique Thompson Dwyer) and Zoe Anderson (Garcia Brown), who celebrated their joint engagements.
However, things weren’t looking as promising for Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) who is struggling as a single mum and with the events of the last 12 months but she is pushing through her cancer diagnosis with a business to run and one year old twins to look after.
At the hospital, Tony looked he like the weight of the world is on his shoulders as doctors tended to Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson), who woke up from a coma a year after managing to escape the car explosion.
Elsewhere, Leah Barnes (Elá-May Melek Demircan) gave birth and it was confirmed that Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence) is in a relationship with Robbie Roscoe (Charlie Wernham) but she still has her eye on Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey).
Hollyoaks airs Monday to Wednesday on E4 at 7pm and first look episodes can be streamed Channel 4 from 7am
