There’s a mystery arrival in Coronation Street next week that looks set to seal evil Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) fate once and for all.
After he was released without charge last month, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) have made it their mission to try and bring down the sinister solicitor, who has groomed and abused young girls.
And in scenes to air on Monday, there’s a huge breakthrough in the case when a face from the past comes forward.
Lauren is at the hospital keeping a vigil at son Frankie’s bedside following his premature birth last month when a mystery figure visits her and reveals they may be able to stop Joel.
Their arrival follows the discovery of incriminating messages on Joel’s old work phone, between him and a woman called Ellie.
Last week, viewers saw Dee-Dee handed the device by a disgruntled receptionist as she paid a visit Joel’s old firm Walcotts.
DS Swain then uncovered the messages between Joel and Ellie after getting the phone analysed by an IT contact who owed her a favour.
Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) later agreed to help track down Ellie, but after finding her, she was unwilling to talk to DS Swain about her experience with Joel.
Dee-Dee then Informed Daniel Osborne (Rob Mallard) of this, as he offered to get in touch with former flame Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson) to get her to try and persuade Ellie to speak – has she come forward?
Meanwhile, next week also sees Lisa and Dee-Dee make another breakthrough in trying to find evidence linking Joel to the abortion-inducing drugs he used on Lauren that sent her into premature labour.
After they spot the bistro van has a dashcam, they go through the footage hoping to trace the company that sent the package containing the drugs to Joel.
As they uncover that the parcel was from a private health clinic, Lisa calls them to provide details of the sender – and a shock revelation follows…
Coronation Street airs these scenes from Monday 16 September at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
