The aftermath of Keanu’s mistrial continued to play on Linda’s mind on Monday as she prepared to be arrested, but Johnny soon delivered the news that two key people had departed Walford
EastEnders aired another twist for The Six during Monday’s episode (September 9) as Dean Wicks’ fate was confirmed and Bernie Taylor left Walford following Linda’s confession.
Last week, while standing trial for murder, villainous Dean (Matt Di Angelo) confessed to raping Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) 10 years ago.
Dean’s sudden outburst came as it looked likely he would be found guilty of murdering Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) on Christmas Day, but his confession also sparked a mistrial for the mechanic’s death.
This drove Linda to come clean about the real circumstances surrounding Keanu’s death, as she confessed to the police that she was the one who stabbed him in The Queen Vic. But the police dismissed Linda’s claim.
When Linda returned to Albert Square, she headed to the café where she told Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) that she was the person who killed her brother leaving her shocked, and very angry.
Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), Denise Fox (Diane Parish), and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) soon arrived at the café and admitted the facts surrounding Keanu’s fateful night as viewers wondered if Bernie would turn The Six into the police.
However, during Monday’s trip to Walford, which is available to watch now on iPlayer, a police officer confirmed to Linda that Dean had been sentenced to nine years in prison for her rape.
Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) also announced Bernie had left Walford and was in Germany, presumably visiting her brother Keegan.
But the news of Bernie and Dean’s departures wasn’t enough for Linda as she blurted out her responsibility for Keanu’s death to her shocked mum Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) as the pub landlady prepared herself to be taken away by the police, but they never arrived.
Meanwhile, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) settled into her one-week prison sentence for contempt of court.
But she was in for a shock as she bumped into an old face after 19 years – her former step-mum Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman).
Chrissie and Sharon appeared to get off on the wrong foot before the two convicts brushed over their past. But will Sharon tell her former nemesis the full truth about Keanu’s death?
After serving nearly 20 years behind bars for Den Watts’ murder, Chrissie confirmed she is due for parole on Thursday.
EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer
