Coronation Street’s Jude Riordan demands ‘sort it out’ amid ‘awkward’ soap scenes

The ITV soap’s Sam Blakeman actor revealed how his character is set to get in between two warring siblings on the cobbles

Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has demanded an on-screen relationship be ‘sorted out’ as he revealed how his character is set to get in between two warring siblings on the cobbles.

The actor is known for playing Sam Blakeman in the ITV soap and the youngster has faced plenty of changes in his life since first arriving on the cobbles.

It was a chance encounter at Weatherfield General in 2020 that resulted in Nick Tilsley finding out that he had a son. Bright and with a passion for astronomy, Sam was very close to his mother. However, Natasha was tragically shot dead by gangster Harvey Gaskell in 2021, leaving Sam mute from grief, until Hope Stape helped him out of his shell, as did Roy Cropper and games of chess.

But his home life is facing fresh upheaval after Leanne Battersby discovered Nick had cheated on her with her own sister, Toyah Habeeb. For months viewers have desperately wanted to see Leanne back to her old self as she was swept up by The Institute following her first meeting with mentor Rowan Cunliffe back in March.

Leanne has since become more and more drawn into Rowan’s teachings and The Institute, even wanting to invest in a new resource centre and recruit new members into the group, including Amy Barlow which recently ended in disaster. But during scenes aired last week in Corrie, the penny seemingly dropped for Leanne.

She helped Rowan trawl through Amy’s ‘upload session’ for something to use against her so she would drop wanting the £40,000 she naively invested back.

She later came across a tearful Amy who revealed she was being blackmailed by Rowan and The Institute and issued some of the blame to Leanne, saying she trusted her. Leanne tried to defend the Institute but Amy didn’t hold back and it seemingly left Leanne with some food for thought.

She went back to the Chariot Square Hotel and told Rowan that Amy wasn’t backing down and that they needed to find something else to use against her. But when Rowan was distracted, Leanne went through his laptop and started deleting files that contained members’ ‘uploads’.

However, as she phoned her sister Toyah to tell her she had been right all along, Leanne was heartbroken when she found the photo of Toyah and Nick kissing behind her back which Rowan was using to blackmail Nick and headed to the Bistro where she confronted her partner in front of his family at Max Turner’s 18th celebration.

In upcoming scenes, Sam will get involved in trying to mend Leanne and Toyah’s relationship, with spoilers previously revealing that over a frosty breakfast, Sam urges Leanne and Toyah to forget Nick ever existed and remember that they’re sisters. But soon after, Nick calls at the flat with news about Rowan…

Teasing what’s to come, Jude took to Instagram with a picture of himself, Jane Danson (Leanne) and Georgia Taylor (Toyah) in the upcoming scene and said: “C’mon ladies. Sort it out! Next week on the cobbles….” before joking: “I charge £100 per hour for my guidance.”

The young actor then added: “When you’re lucky to spend most days with @realjanedanson and @realgeorgiataylor. Although it’s a little bit awks lately, don’t know why @coronationstreet #corrie #onthecobbles #leannebattersby #toyahbattersby #samblakeman #coronationstreet #alwaysthegrownup.”
