ITV Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ what’s wrong with Moira Dingle after spotting sign

Emmerdale favourite Moira Dingle has sparked concern on the hit ITV soap as she continues to act out of character with forgetful behaviour and violent outbursts

Emmerdale fans are sure they’ve figured out what’s wrong with Moira Dingle as she sparks concern on the ITV soap.

Only recently, Moira (Natalie J Robb) has caused alarm with her erratic behaviour with memory lapses and violent outbursts. In more worrying developments, Moira recently collapsed and lashed out at Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly) after she jumped to conclusions she was having an affair with her husband Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) following an innocent chat.

Even though she had agreed to undergo blood tests to find out if there was something worrying causing her behaviour, episodes earlier this week revealed that Moira had forgotten her medical appointment entirely, leading a frustrated Cain to storm off. However, things are only going to get worse for Moira next week when she causes a barn fire due to a troubling hallucination.

Taking to social media, soap fans have been sharing their theories about what is happening with Moira with many predicting a heartbreaking diagnosis after ‘tell-tale’ signs. One person said: “What do we all think is actually wrong with Moira??? I’m thinking brain tumour.”

Another agreed, responding: “I’m thinking a tumour which would definitely present itself with symptoms like this” while another fan speculated: “Originally I thought menopause, then seizure so I thought epilepsy. But a tumour would explain forgetting and mood swings”, reports the Express. Elsewhere, one viewer remarked: “Yes it does look that way sad to say though x” while another concurred: “I agree… she is having seizures, mood swings and memory loss.”

It comes as spoilers for next week see a fire tragedy as both Moira and Ruby are trapped in a burning barn. In scenes this week, as Moira increasingly acts unlike herself, she shares a shock affectionate moment with stepson Nate Robinson, who firmly rejects her, but Caleb Milligan has seen it all from a slightly different angle.

Soap fans will recall that the duo previously had an affair years ago when Nate first moved to the village, which left Moira’s marriage to Cain in jeopardy. The trio have since managed to put the events behind them but it appears the storyline is revisited in upcoming scenes.

In spoilers next week, Moira’s husband Cain is taken aback and reeling to hear about Moira’s ‘kiss’ with Nate from Caleb. When Moira plays down the moment, Cain is left utterly stunned to which a furious Moira storms out. Meanwhile, Nate is left panicked when Cain turns up looking for an explanation.

When furious Cain returns home, Moira is distressed to learn that he has beaten up Nate. Cain then confronts her about her indiscretion to which a flicker of déjà vu begins to intrude Moira’s thoughts. Shocked and stressed by the events, she slaps Cain to which he leaves.

Ruby soon arrives at the barn to gloat, but her attitude changes when Moira doesn’t respond to her taunts. As a stressed Moira accidentally spills tractor fuel in the barn, Ruby’s voice starts to blend with that of Emma Barton, Moira’s old adversary who she killed back in 2017. A disoriented Moira then points her shotgun at a terrified Ruby, seeing Emma instead of her.

The situation escalates when Moira fires a warning shot into the air, causing panic in Ruby as the bullet hits a light bulb and sparks fly. A struggle for the shotgun results in Moira knocking Ruby unconscious with a blow to the head and when Moira comes to, she is left confused by the events that have unfolded.

In dramatic scenes, the spark ignites the spilled tractor fuel, quickly turning into a fire as Moira stands frozen next to Ruby’s body. Spotting the smoke from afar, several villagers, including Moira’s brother Mack, rush towards the barn. With multiple residents trapped inside the burning structure, a massive explosion sends them all flying… will everyone survive?

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV and ITV X at 7.30pm.
