Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank told ‘not having it’ as he’s seen pyjamas on late-night cobbles

Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank appeared to be keeping cosy as he was seen during late-night filming on the cobbles. The actor took to social media to tease that he was involved in some after-dark filming on the ITV soap.

While he didn’t reveal what Billy Mayhew was doing, Daniel did share how he was sporting his character’s dressing gown as he posted a snap from the famous street.

Captioning the post, in which the iconic Rovers Return could just be seen being lit up by some external lights in the background, he wrote: “Surely there’s nothing more exciting than a middle-aged fictional vicar in stripy pyjamas on a fictional cobbled street at night…”

But fans couldn’t help but make quips about him calling Weatherfield ‘fictional’. @tracy_hemblen joked: “What do you mean ‘Weatherfield is a fictional town’? I’m not having that….”

@___.jemma echoed: “Weatherfield’s not a real place? Not having that..” @janisj9597 commented: “What is this ‘fiction’ you speak of. Surely not.” @dustypeppertillie posted: “Sorry? You mean it’s not real!”

Others, however, took Dan’s post as an opportunity to praise him for his recent performance in the ITV soap alongside co-star Peter Ash, whose character is dying following a Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis.

@karensaxena said: “I do love you x amazing actor you are and the lovely character Paul just have me in tears every time I watch you both heartbreaking storyline and you’re both doing it justice.” @debz_56 wrote: “You had me in tears again last night. Brilliant acting by you both once again.”

@chrisrd.parkin shared: “You 2 have had me in tears more than once lol brilliant acting about an absolutely horrible illness we’ll done to you both I don’t think I’m going to cope when we lose Paul.” @iamsarahannett added: “Tonight’s ep was just outstanding. Well done , such a tough watch you’d have to be made of stone not to cry.”

It’s been confirmed that next week in Corrie, Paul will tragically die. Spoilers have revealed that whilst complaining of his hangover, Billy realises he’s lost his phone and is thrown into panic as it contains all of his photos and memories. As he sets off to retrace his steps, Summer Spellman and Bernie Winter are horrified to discover Paul unresponsive on the sofa, struggling to breathe.

Summer calls an ambulance but realising that Billy has left Paul at the worst possible time, with no way of contacting him, Bernie and Summer do everything they can to keep Paul alive. With the odds against him, will Billy make it in time to say his final goodbye to Paul?
