Tensions erupt next week in Emmerdale as Moira Dingle finds herself at the centre of discord with ex-lover Nate Robinson. The hunk is brutally attacked by someone close to home.
Moira Dingle and Nate Robinson land themselves into trouble next week, setting the scene for Cain Dingle to intervene… and ferociously attack his own son in retaliation.
Regular Emmerdale viewers will know that Moira’s relationship with her husband Cain was once left on the rocks when she embarked on an affair with Nate who, at the time, wasn’t known to be the tough man’s son.
While they have since moved on from the betrayal, Natalie J Robb’s ITV alter ego has sparked concern when she began to lash out against Cain (portrayed by Jeff Hordley), for no apparent reason, leading the pair’s marriage to be left on the rocks again.
Next week, tensions reach a boiling point when Caleb Miligan (Will Ash) mistakenly believes Moira and Nate (Jurell Carter) have reignited their affair, breaking the news to a furious Cain.
A jealous Cain will brutally attack his son Nate, who has been tipped to exit Emmerdale
Taken aback, Cain decides to confront Moira with the supposed indiscretion but tempers flare again when the farmer plays it down and he struggles to take her word for it. Before long, Moira storms out, ending the conversation, but Cain seethes and soon takes his anger out on Nate.
Caleb then confronts Nate about his moment with Moira, while Nate’s estranged wife Tracy (Amy Walsh) is totally heartbroken to hear it all from the businessman. Before long, Cain arrives and is fuming to hear of Nate’s betrayal but as the hunk tries to explain what really happened, Cain snaps and punches him to the floor.
Consumed by rage, Cain rains punches down on his own son but he is soon pleaded by Tracy to stop, and despite Nate’s continued emotional denial, Cain walks out disowning him entirely. The encounter leaves Tracy and Nate in a difficult position as the pair were on the right track to leave for Shetland together with their daughter Frankie.
Desperate, Nate is dismayed at what he’s losing in the face of Tracy’s ire, while Cain returns home later on, and a dismayed Moira figures out that he has brutally attacked Nate over her alleged infidelity.
Unable to communicate, Cain rages, unaware that Moira’s past is catching up to her as she is haunted by memories but she soon lets her emotions get the best of her as she slaps her other half, forcing him to walk out. But tragedy may bring them back together.
In other scenes, a devious Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) joins Moira in the barn to gloat but begins to feel sorry for the farmer, who is unresponsive to her jibes. Instead, Moira spills tractor fuel in the barn as Ruby’s voice blurs with that of her old nemesis, Emma Barton, whom she killed in 2017, letting her son Adam take the fall.
Overwhelmed and unrecognisable, Moira raises a shotgun at a horrified Ruby and padlocks the barn, before firing a warning shot in the air. But things quickly escalate into a tussle for the weapon and Moira manages to knock Ruby out with a blow to the head.
Hazy and shaken, Moira is confused as she recovers but when the spark catches fire on the trail of tractor fuel, Moira freezes, helpless next to Ruby’s body.
Word of the fire soon spreads throughout the village next week as Moira’s brother Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) sees the smoke coming from the barn at a distance. But after desperately trying to reach Moira in vain, he is left with no choice but to make the trip himself on a quad bike.
Once at the barn, Mack bumps into newcomer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) and the pair agree to make their way into the barn, but not before Mackenzie can warn Cain, Caleb and Chas of the fire.
The trio make their way to the barn in a panic, despite Cain’s anger at his wife. The Emmerdale tough man races to the burning barn, while his sister Chas tries to hold him back from facing the blaze. But when they’re trapped in the barn, a huge explosion throws them all to the ground, leaving them at death’s door.
Viewers of the long-running programme have been concerned over Nate’s fate as actor Jurell Carter was reported to be on his way out of Emmerdale. On Monday, Nate Robinson even mentioned he was considering taking a new job away from the eponymous village during a chat with his pal Mackenzie. But will he really leave and could his exit be permanent amid reports his departure will go “down in history”?
