Coronation Street fans are convinced that they’ve already worked out a baby twist for villain Joel Deering and it’s not looking good for the cobbles bad boy
Coronation Street viewers believe they’ve uncovered a plot twist involving the villainous character, Joel Deering.
Fans of the soap will remember that it was recently revealed that Joel was the perpetrator behind the brutal attack on Lauren Bolton. Joel manipulated Lauren into a relationship, showering her with gifts and money before becoming violent.
When Lauren attempted to break things off, he assaulted her, leading her to go into hiding. Lauren was initially thought to be dead, but she made a dramatic comeback a few weeks ago, revealing not only that she was alive but also pregnant with Joel’s child. After being drugged by the malicious Joel, Lauren went into premature labour, with her baby son now in hospital.
Despite his actions, Joel has yet to face charges due to insufficient evidence, and he continues to torment Lauren and his ex, Dee-Dee Bailey, reports the Daily Star.
In Monday night’s episode, Joel threatened Lauren again, stating that he had consulted a solicitor and planned to apply for custody of their son Frankie. However, observant viewers noticed a potential flaw in Joel’s threat, suggesting a possible twist involving the wicked solicitor.
One viewer took to social media to highlight: “Surely if Joel isn’t on the birth certificate, he wouldn’t have the right to have any access to the child.”

A fan expressed their theory online, “I think they will have a DNA and find out it’s not his child just my opinion” while another viewer predicted trouble, “Sorry but Joel literally said it himself he’s already been barred from seeing one kid so in what possible world would he be granted custody of another? Especially when despite what he says he hasn’t proven Lauren to be unfit. If he had Social Services would be involved #Corrie.”
Amidst the dramatic scenes, Joel actor Calum Lill cautioned fans that there’s more turbulence ahead for his character. While on This Morning, he advised viewers: “I think one thing we’ve seen with Joel is he’s very selfish, driven and seems to lack empathy so I think the worst is yet to come from Joel, he’s only going to get worse.”
When probed about potential further victims and if his character’s ex Dee-Dee is in harm’s way, Calum intriguingly suggested: “Who knows? I think it could even get worse than you think!”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
