Stu Carpenter has spent the past few weeks trying to give Mason Radcliffe a chance to turn his life around against the wishes of all the locals, but is it all about to backfire?
Coronation Street viewers are convinced Stu Carpenter will be killed by bully Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan). As fans of the ITV soap will know, Mason was sent to a young offenders centre earlier this year for threatening Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) with a knife.
During the trial Dylan Wilson (Liam Mccheyne) bravely stood up to Mason, testifying against him despite being afraid of the thug. But following Mason’s release and subsequent return to Weatherfield, he has been ruffling feathers – with both Liam and Dylan left shaken.
Meanwhile, Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) has shown compassion for Mason and managed to get him a job at his restaurant. The news of Mason working at Speed Daal left several residents angry.
But Stu insisted that he could see that Mason was trying to turn his life around and wanted to give him a chance at redemption. Mason has also gotten close with troublemaker Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).
Last month, actor Bill Fellows was announced to be departing the soap as Stu, and viewers think they have worked out his exit storyline – and it’s bad news.
Taking to Reddit, some fans think Mason will land himself in trouble once more and will try to stab Liam or Dylan, and Stu will be caught in the crossfire leading to his accidental death.
One person wrote: “Does anyone think Mason will kill Stu”, as another replied: “I hope not. I do believe he wants to change. However, we know that something ‘big’ will happen. Maybe Mason tries to stab Dylan/ Liam/ Betsy, Stu steps in and dies.”
Another added: “Maybe Stu will be in the crossfires of the teenage drama and Mason will try to save his life.”
Over on X, another Corrie fan explained: “Mason was arrested for bullying including pulling a knife on Liam. So obviously Stu’s now offered him a job in a kitchen… cutting stuff. Amazing. This is going to end well. #corrie.”
“It was confirmed today that Stu is leaving – I wonder if his exit is linked to Mason? #Corrie”, added another.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX
