The engagement party took a dark turn.
EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (August 20), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
EastEnders has aired Reiss Colwell and Sonia Fowler’s dramatic arrest in the show’s latest episode.
This week, Reiss faced the wrath of Phil when the deadline for his money arrived, but Teddy helped him out by taking on the debt – in exchange for some clever accounting services from Reiss.
In today’s episode, Sonia was nervous about her upcoming scan, but was cheered up by Kathy giving her food to taste ahead of her engagement party that day.
Sharon saw Sonia in the café and checked that the engagement was still going ahead, but when the conversation turned to Teddy, Sharon told her about his new deal with Reiss.
Sonia was blindsided that Reiss hadn’t told her this, but she put this aside and left with him to go to the scan.
At the hospital, Sonia confronted her partner about his latest secret, and she was furious that he had left her in the dark once again and had secured a deal with a man he hardly knew.
But the couple came together when Sonia went for her scan, and they were overjoyed that they had a healthy baby at this stage.
Meanwhile, Kathy was preparing food for the party, but she and Martin were shocked when the police came to the café to ask about Reiss.
Sonia and Reiss returned to the Square, hopeful about the future, but Martin grabbed Reiss for a private chat where he told him about the police.
Reiss said it was probably to do with Debbie’s parents and the life insurance, but back in the house he collapsed, clutching his chest.
Sonia realised he was having a panic attack and calmed him down, with Reiss explaining that he didn’t want their family to be taken away from him.
The pair arrived at The Vic for their engagement party, and while Sonia was excited to share the good news about the baby, Reiss remained anxious, especially when Callum asked about the police.
As the group discussed baby names, the police arrived for Reiss, revealing that they believe Debbie was murdered. Sonia protested Reiss being taken away, before she realised that they were both being arrested.
With the couple being led away in handcuffs, will Sonia and Reiss be charged with murder?
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
