Coronation Street’s Harriet Bibby declares love for co-star year after soap exit

The Summer Spellman actress proved the pair are still good friends away from the cobbles

Coronation Street star Harriet Bibby has shared her love for her former co-star, a year after his exit from the show. The actress is best known for playing Summer Spellman in the ITV soap.

And viewers will remember that last year, Summer was heartbroken following her split from Aaron Sanford. The pair enjoyed somewhat of a whirlwind romance having met at the diabetes support group after Summer, played by Harriet Bibby, was diagnosed with the condition.

But things later took a dark turn for Aaron, played by James Craven. as, following his split from Summer, the character sought solace in her best friend Amy Barlow.

But Corrie viewers watched in horror as Amy, played by Elle Mulvaney, was raped by Aaron, her best friend’s boyfriend. The flatmates were seen bonding over drinking games after they both fell out with Summer.

The pair ended up kissing in Amy’s bedroom as she went to find more alcohol, and when she complained of feeling sick and passed out asleep Aaron preyed on her. When Amy woke up to find herself alone in the flat, she found a note saying ‘drink me’ with a glass of water left by Aaron, who believed their night together was consensual.

Summer and Amy’s family and friends later discovered the truth but Amy’s attempts to go the police sadly failed when the Weathefield force dropped her case against Aaron due to lack of evidence. And after posting a blog post detailing what happened and branding Aaron a rapist, Amy was hit by a libel case from her former friend’s dad, Eric.

She tried to stand her ground but with fears for her family’s home, she later struggled to write the retraction. Meanwhile, Aaron went back over that night and later he was seen visiting Amy and emotionally telling her they weren’t going through with the case. But he struggled to admit what really happened, got into his dad’s car and left the cobbles, leading to an exit for both Aaron and actor James.

But despite it being now more than a year since he said his goodbyes, James is still very much good friends with his co-stars. On Thursday (August 15), she took to her Instagram Story with a photo of the two together alongside Amy star, Elle Mulvaney, as she publically marked his birthday.

“Happy birthday bestie. Love you, have a great day,” she gushed. Elle also sent James a birthday message as she shared a snap alongside the birthday boy as well as their fellow former co-star, Jack James Ryan, who played Weatherfield’s Jacob Hay. “Happy birthday @james.t.craven,” she said.

Adam Hussain, who plays Aadi Alahan in the long-running show, also recognised his friend’s birthday and alongside a picture of a few of the cast at one of Corrie’s summer bash’s, wrote: “Also happiest of birthdays to @james.t.craven.” Meanwhile, Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton, also took to social media to wish him a happy birthday with a picture of the pair alongside Harriet.
