Coronation Street actor Adam Hussain has dropped hints that he’s left the cobbles after four years, as he posted new headshots and a new project that’s left fans concerned
Coronation Street star Adam Hussain, who plays Aadi Alahan, has got fans speculating that he’s left the soap.
The 23-year-old actor has played Aadi since 2020, but hasn’t had a storyline since his brief romance with Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) and being hospitalised in January for carbon monoxide poisoning.
The TV star has also announced he is set to star in a new film called Denial, which focuses on themes of men’s mental health.
With Aadi not playing a big part on the soap, and the actor sharing details of a new project, fans are wondering if he’s quit the cobbles for good.
Adam shared stills from the upcoming film on his social media, and some fans commented asking whether he had left the ITV soap.
He further fuelled rumours of an impending exit when he posted new headshots on his Instagram – which something actors tend to do when they’re about to leave.
A fan asked the star: “Is that why you’re not on Corrie though?”. Adam did not respond to the comment – despite replying to other fans.
Before joining Corrie, Adam first appeared on screen in an Amazon TV series called Abstentia in 2017. The series tells the story of an FBI agent hunting a serial killer who disappears without a trace. Six years later, she is found in a cabin in the woods with no memory of what happened.
Since then, he starred in The Bay in 2019 and No Man’s land in 2020, before joining the ITV soap.
Adam joined the cast of Coronation Street back in 2020 taking over the role from Zennon Ditchett. He joined the show alongside actress Tanisha Gorey, who plays Adam’s twin sister Asha.
Upon joining the show, Adam said: “I am excited to play the role of Aadi, putting my own twist on him as the character becomes involved in an important new storyline.
“I was already good friends with Tanisha Gorey, before coming to the street, which helps hugely with portraying the bond of brother and sister.”
Adam’s on-screen alter ego Aadi Alahan has been captivating audiences with a number of dramatic storylines, including his own brush with death in a terrifying car accident and even his recent short-lived affair with married woman Courtney Vance (Stephanie Davis).
Aadi’s relationship with Courtney broke down when she returned to her husband. There was more tragedy for Aadi on the horizon when Aadi shared a kiss with his sister’s girlfriend at the time, Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) which led to a huge family fallout.
Aadi was then hospitalised after a carbon monoxide leak at his flat— something which left him fighting for his life in hospital but he later recovered.
