BBC EastEnders Sonia and Reiss arrested for Debbie’s murder as new evidence comes to light

EastEnders is set for explosive scenes next week when Sonia Fowler and Reiss Colwell are arrested for his late wife’s murder amid new evidence

Sonia Fowler and Reiss Colwell are arrested next week on EastEnders as they’re accused of murdering his late wife Debbie.

The accusations come after her mother Brenda vowed to expose Reiss’ lies, fearing something had happened to her comatose daughter at the care home. Viewers had seen Reiss seemingly killing Debbie at the care home she was being looked after in, years on from an apparent stroke. Amid financial issues and growing care home debts, Reiss was shown seemingly killing her before covering his tracks.

Meanwhile, just moments earlier, Sonia had innocently visited Debbie in the care home, where she readjusted her pillow and was scolded by a nurse for not signing into the visitor’s book. In spoilers next week, Reiss continues to panic about his debts, especially after ripping off Phil Mitchell, who is demanding his money back. Sonia is forced to get involved again as she buys them time by pleading to Sharon Watts, who Reiss also conned.

Later in the week, Sonia is worried about her eight-week viability scan and is left rattled when Sharon reveals that Teddy has taken on the debt as Reiss hasn’t told her this. At the scan, Sonia confronts Reiss and tells him it’s madness to make a deal with someone they barely know. However, there’s more worries ahead for the couple as back in Albert Square, Martin Fowler privately warns Reiss that the police have been round asking questions about him and Debbie.

Later, back at home, Reiss has a panic attack and Sonia tries to calm him down. After calming down, the couple head to The Vic, where they are enjoying their engagement party until the police arrive and arrest both Sonia and Reiss for Debbie’s murder. Over at the police station, both Sonia and Reiss are questioned by the detectives, who have physical evidence that Debbie was murdered. Will Reiss confess or will he frame Sonia?

It comes as EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy is embarking on a new adventure as she takes a break from the hit soap. The actress – best known for her role as the legendary Sonia – is temporarily exiting Albert Square so she can take on a new job after being poached by a rival channel. The BBC star will head over to Channel 4 for her new role where she will front a four-part series titled What’s The Big Deal?
