Emmerdale legend confirms she would ‘return in a heartbeat’

Emmerdale legend Hayley Tamaddon has confirmed she would return to the ITV soap ‘in a heartbeat’, after receiving ‘so many messages’ from viewers currently watching classic episodes.

Hayley played the role of Delilah Dingle in the Yorkshire-based soap from 2005 to 2007, and had numerous memorable storylines.

Delilah arrived in the Emmerdale village with a bang, having abandoned her wedding to fiancé Jay, who she later parted ways with.

During her time in village, Delilah began working for Val and Eric Pollard (Charlie Hardwick and Chris Chittell) as a seamstress, before developing feelings for Carl King (Tom Lister).

After discovering that he was still in love with her cousin Chas (Lucy Pargeter), Delilah helped him win her back, before moving on with David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden).

Her exit from the show saw her flee the village with £20,000 after double-crossing David, amid their plan to steal from Eric.

Re-runs of classic Emmerdale on ITV have reached Hayley’s stint, with fans eager to know if she would ever return to the role.

‘Soooo many messages like this in my inbox! Ahhhh I’d return in a heartbeat,’ She wrote.

‘This show was the start of my TV career. I owe it a lot. Happy memories of Delilah Dingle,’ she added.

After her stint in Emmerdale, Hayley went on to play Andrea Beckett in rival soap Coronation Street between 2013 and 2015.

She has also had a successful theatre career, playing roles such as Roxie Hart in Chicago and Miss Hedge in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
