EastEnders ‘lets slip’ how Dean will leave BBC soap after twist – but it’s ‘not prison’

EastEnders viewers may have been given a clue as to how Dean Wicks will leave the BBC soap after recent exit news, after a prison stint may have been ruled out

EastEnders’ Dean Wicks’ exit plot may have taken a turn, amid a twist being teased.

Dean’s exit was confirmed recently, with actor Matt Di Angelo hinting that things wouldn’t go as expected, with a twist on the cards. Now, the unexpected exit may have been teased in new scenes on Monday night.

Dean’s plan with Bernadette Taylor against Linda Carter continued in the latest episode, as he remained in prison charged with the murder of Keanu Taylor. Keanu’s sister Bernie secretly teamed up with Dean after he convinced her he was not the killer and Linda was hiding something.

Neither of them know that Linda is Keanu’s killer, with several residents covering up her Christmas Day crime. Bernie decided to help Dean in a bid to bring her brother’s killer to justice.

But with the plan being to stop Linda being a witness in the case, after her claims she saw Dean in the area the night Keanu died, things took a turn. Linda turned up to a meeting to discuss her testimony drunk, and soon enough the prosecutor decided Linda was not fit to take the stand.

This news got back to Dean that Linda’s testimony against him would very likely be dropped, meaning he could very well be cleared. With his freedom in his sights, Dean realised he no longer need to push Linda or help Bernie.

Bernadette was devastated as he told her he wasn’t going to help her anymore, meaning she might not solve the case. Bernie told him she did her part of the deal, but Dean said the plan was no longer needed as he would possibly be released, before the hunt for the killer reopened.

If Dean is to be released amid his exit from the show, does this mean he will be able to leave Walford a free man? Could he end up fleeing before the police catch up with him again?

Or might someone, like Bernie, end up taking revenge on him, resulting in him facing a gruesome fate? It’s yet to be revealed when and how Dean goes, but perhaps prison is not where he will end up after all.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
