After being locked up earlier this year, the ITV soap has confirmed the possible return for one villager
Emmerdale viewers were given a significant update on Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) on Monday (August 12), as it was revealed she is set to return to the village on day release. Fans of the ITV soap will recall that Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling) tragically died in a car accident on New Year’s Eve.
Initially, it was thought that his twin sister Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) had been driving and caused the crash, but she denied being at the wheel when questioned by the police about the incident. A distraught Cathy implicated Angelica, who also denied being the driver at the time of the fatal accident.
However, during Heath’s funeral, Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) discovered her daughter at Heath’s grave and was unprepared for what she was about to confess. Angelica broke down and admitted to her mother that she had been driving when the car crashed, ultimately causing Heath’s death.
After being found responsible for Heath’s death and lying about it, Angelica was sent to a secure children’s home. The 15 year old was given a custodial sentence and spent eight months in the facility.
She hasn’t been seen on screen since her emotional farewell to her family in March, but it seems Angelica is due for a brief return home, reports the Express.
In the latest episode, Nicola received a phone call from Angelica’s children’s home confirming the teenager’s upcoming visit, although Jimmy (Nick Miles) seemed indifferent to the news.
“It’s brilliant news,” she told Jimmy, her face lighting up with joy, “the unit was phoning to confirm Angelica’s day release tomorrow.”
Jimmy responded indifferently: “Which we knew was happening.”
Nicola retorted: “But we have both been around long enough to know if a spanner can be put in the works then someone will find that spanner.”
Despite the positive update about his daughter’s day release, Jimmy quickly shifted the discussion to his business troubles.
Will Angelica make it back to the village tomorrow? Emmerdale viewers are left in suspense.
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
